We realize that many fine wine enthusiasts want more than just low prices and a good selection. You're looking for good recommendations and information on various wines from around the world. K&L sold it's first Napa Valley Cabernet two days after Bill Gates was old enough to buy it legally. Both Jerry Yang and Dave Filo (who founded Yahoo! a couple miles down the street at Stanford University) were in elementary school when we "went live" with our first store. We've been doing this for a while.

Part of what we believe has helped the success of our business has been our belief that educating the consumer must be a large part of a good wine merchant's repertoire. We pride ourselves in taking the time to learn about many different wine regions and varietals worldwide, and then passing that information along to the you through our Web site, newsletter, on the phone, or in person. If you're simply looking for the best price on well-known products, you've come to the right spot. However, you'll be missing out on the most interesting aspects of wine appreciation -- discovering new producers, new regions, and learning how dramatically different wines can taste depending on where they come from. When we tell our customers that we travel around the globe in search of the world's finest wines, we're not joking. Our experienced tasting panel travels throughout France and Italy each year to buy the best wines available. If it weren't for the fact that we're located within a short driving distance of many phenomenal Napa Valley, Sonoma, and Santa Cruz Mountains wineries, our travel expenses could cause a major problem! In all seriousness, our close proximity and chummy relationships to the finest California producers ensures that our domestic inventory is tough (or impossible) to beat.
