Fattoria Galardi "Terra Di Lavoro" Campania
2023 Fattoria Galardi "Terra Di Lavoro" Campania
97VN

The 2023 Terra di Lavoro is an understated beauty, with a perfumed and complex bouquet of crushed violets, geraniums, sweet smoke, sage and blackberries. It’s youthfully dense and tightly wrapped with nearly velvety textures, sleek red/black fruits and a slight citrus twang. Inner rose tones appear through the long and structured finale, where a bump of brisk acidity offsets grippy tannins and notes of red plum. This is a unique vintage for Terra di Lavoro: a cooler, rainy year, with a lower percentage of Piedirosso in the blend and less total production, due to the loss of 3.5 hectares to wild boars. That said, the 2023 is exceptional. (EG) 97+

These skins are then macerated in grain alcohol to extract the pure lemon oils which is the hallmark of this high quality, boutique limoncello production.

Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Terra di Lavoro emerges from the glass with an array of floral red fruit, spices, berries and minerals. It is an especially forward, opulent Terra di Lavoro bursting with exuberance. There is something viscerally thrilling about the 2007, perhaps because Terra di Lavoro is typically so reticent when it is young. Not here. This is an open, wonderfully expressive vintage. The only thing left to wonder is if the wine will ever shut down in bottle. For now, readers who want to understand what makes Terra di Lavoro such a pedigreed wine may want to start here. Readers who prefer a firmer style will likely gravitate towards the 2006 or 2008, but this is a flat-out great bottle of wine with an explosive personality that carries through to the long, intensely satisfying finish... Feudi di San Gregorio "Pàtrimo" Campania 6-Pack in OWC
2013 Feudi di San Gregorio "Pàtrimo" Campania 6-Pack in OWC
91RP

The 2000 Pàtrimo marks the debut of Feudi di San Gregorio's new label design. A traditional front label was replaced by a small square that underlined a revolutionary approach. The label flaunts its stark minimalism and Spartan elegance. Copycat labels would soon appear throughout Italy and across the wider world of wine. The 2000 vintage saw a very cold winter and lower than average temperatures throughout much of the growing season. The cool climate is evident in this Merlot, because this vintage offers a level of tannic astringency and tightness that you don't get in the other wines presented in this vertical. The body of the wine also feels less extracted and more streamlined as a result. Dark prune and dried fig flavors are followed by spice and toasted wood (this vintage was aged in new French barrique for 24 months). Because of the wine's structural power, this vintage promises more longevity. (ML)
