2018 Mastroberardino "Stilèma" Taurasi Riserva (Aglianico)

Stilèma revisits the Taurasi that Antonio Mastroberardino knew before individual vineyard bottlings became central to the family range. The cuvée combines Aglianico from Montemarano, Castelfranci and Paternopoli. Those sites range from roughly 540 to 600 meters, with clay and limestone prominent in the two higher vineyards. Mastroberardino describes a brief seven- to eight-day maceration and maturation in previously used wood, including large Slavonian casks and French barrels. The intention is to moderate extraction and preserve Aglianico’s identity. The estate suggests mushroom dishes, roast duck or lamb with herbs.
