I’ve dreamed of making this wine ever since I first walked this vineyard several years ago. The vineyard is truly one of the most dramatic and singular sites in the Napa Valley. High in the east Oakville hills, this vineyard is incredibly steep with radically rocky soils. The earth here is a vibrant red loam with a huge number of basalt rocks and boulders protruding through the surface. By boulders I mean, as big as a car boulders where they had to skip several vines in the row because of a boulder! Block 92 is like a solar panel facing west with a panor...

This Champagne hails from the village of Champlat, with neighbors like Thierry Thibaut and Michel Dervin. It is a blanc de noir made entirely from Meunier, and is composed of 50% solera reserves going back to 2009. It is aged three years on the lees, and dosed at just 8 grams per liter. I love the easy drinking style of this super clean Meunier, it has great texture as well as fabulous refreshment. And what a deal! - Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer

In the part of Champagne known most for Pinot Noir, there is a magical place called La Perle Blanche de la Montagne de Reims, the east-facing slope of this small but prominent hill. The first village of this sub-region is the Premier Cru of Trépail, where the Petiau family tends to a small but exceptional vineyard. In the past, this family ran the nursery for the surrounding area, and like many of the best producers in Champagne, they have continued to nurture their own massal selection of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, choosing not to use the earlier ripeni...

The palate is weighted with ripe passionfruit, nectarine and honeysuckle. This is ripe and rich. It's densely packed and acidity trots in line, enabling a long, slippery finish. A hint of celery salt and raw cashew on the finish with a smattering of lacey skin texture. Lots of value here, for the price tag, and a memorable wine." Offering a massive array of orange peel, honey, marmalade, flowers, and toasted nuts, this incredible wine hits the palate with a thunderous display of opulence, richness, and length, all while staying fresh, elegant, and seamless. It has a huge mid-palate and is reminiscent of the 2003, only with more freshness and delineation." (11/2017) 98 points Wine Advocate: "One of the most ...

Plenty of tension on the palate, discreet in the middle, a little richer at the finish. He has two plots, high up where it flattens out. Classy yet of medium body. Drink from 2028-2033. Corsica is one of the great, off-the-radar regions for wine production. The vineyards for Petroni date back to 1885 and are surrounded by the Corsican mountains to the west and the Mediterranean to the east. The property is now in the hands of brothers Jacques and Francois Ramazotti. Like most classic rosés of this region, it is a blend of 50% Niellucciu, 35% Sciaccarellu, and 15% Grenache. The palate shows excellent tension and tannic grip, with coiled acidity framing a medley of crunchy red-toned fruits, baking spices, and saline–mineral loamy earth. Slightly peachier in fruit profile but not too generous. Maybe more yellow plum. Saline/iodine at the finish, a much bigger scale wine here, good acidity, a little touch of Mont de Milieu style ripe fruit, long and complex. Very interesting, and typically right bank in style. 93 points Vinous: "The NV Brut Blanc de Blancs Unisson Grand Cru is a pure Chardonnay from Avize, blended from the 2016 and 2017 vintages. A most subtle nose allows glimpses of dried corn husk but stays subdued, because it all happens on the beautifully chalky palate. Depth becomes apparent with the first sip of this slender, taut, bright and lithe Champagne that delves and drives deep into chalk, adding slight yeasty autolysis and really fine mousse. Everything about this forsakes overtness in favor of depth, beautifully elegant with alluring, salty, ch...
