95 points Vinous: "The 2008 Brut Rosé Cuvée Paradis, a blend of 63% Chardonnay and 37% Pinot Noir from premiers and grands crus, was vinified in small oak barrels without malolactic fermentation and spent 13 years on lees. Subtle cream and caramel-dipped rye bread notes with an overtone of cherry express themselves on the exquisitely youthful nose. The palate offers beautifully salty rye sourdough depth and texture, creamy yet taut, with an absolutely fine mousse that foams away with tiny, insistent bubbles lending vivacity and creaminess. This immensely...

New mezcals de un pueblo from Craft Distillers! The Alipus line is a fabulous selection of quality selections at reasonable prices. The San Baltazar Guelavila village mezcal is fermented in pine vats and distilled by Don Cosme Hernandez from agave Espadin grown at 5,700 feet in white, rocky soil. More delicate in mouthfeel than the other two, the palate is still quite expressive with sweet fruits and white pepper notes intertwining with the smoky tang. Earthy notes on the finish. Delicious.

95 points James Halliday: "Blended from wines aged for a decade or more in oak (up to 15 years). Fabulous concentration here, as per the house style, while also establishing real elegance and spirit freshness. It's a fine balance to achieve and it's quite effortless in nougat, orange peel, raisin freshness with dark chocolate and creamy caramels. Long, unwavering finish. *Gold* (JP) " (08/2022)

Allagash Curieux was our first foray into barrel-aging. Curieux is made by aging our Tripel Ale in Jim Beam bourbon barrels for eight weeks in our cold cellars. The aged beer is then blended back with a portion of fresh Tripel. The resulting beer is smooth with coconut and vanilla notes and hints of bourbon.

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "The 2016 is bold on the opening with concentrated blackberry aromas giving way to macerated Bing cherries all coated in allspice, vanilla and hint of savory spices. As the wine develops, drying violets and dark-earth notes waft up. The palate is full in body with concentrated baked plums with cocoa and chalk finishing with firm tannins and lifted acidity. Drink 2028–2050." 95 points James Suckling: "A cooler year in a recent context. This cuvee (single vineyard) was made from 1965 to 1985, before the vineyard was infected wit...

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "A whiff of this wine is like stumbling upon a hidden tobacco field, where the earthy, smoky scent of cured leaves intertwines with the aroma of ripe, roasted berries basking in the sun. The palate is a bold, balanced dance between rich, juicy fruit and savory undertones. Blackberries and cherries, define the core of the flavors found on the palate, as an earthy backbone keeps everything in check. Roasted or grilled dishes will shine with this partner." 90 points Wine Spectator: "Creamed black cherry and black raspberry fruit ...

95 points Wine Advocate: "The impressive 1999 Amarone della Valpolicella is from a vintage which was anything but easy, but apparently created few problems here. Rich, jammy, and spicy aromas are followed by full and voluminous flavors, broad and warmly alcoholic with abundant super-ripe fruit and notes of chocolate, solid but voluptuous and extremely long on the finish. (DT)" (08/2004) 93 points Wine Spectator: "A modern style, with densely packed plum and berry on the nose, with light licorice and eucalyptus notes. Full-bodied and tight, with a core ...

95 points Wine Advocate: "Allegrini's 1998 Amarone boasts an opaque purple color as well as intense aromas of pepper, black cherries, blackberries, asphalt, and truffles. Extremely full-bodied, with lavish concentration, great stuffing, and well-concealed alcohol (15.5%), this stunning Amarone is somewhat primary, but should be at its finest in 2-3 years, and drink well for two decades. It is a worthy successor to their profound 1997. Aged 25 months in 100% new French demi-muids, it is reminiscent of a modern-styled Henri Bonneau Chateauneuf du Pape. Bra...

94 points James Suckling: "A bold interpretation of Amarone. Refined aromas of licorice, dried cherries, camphor and menthol reverberate across a compact, dense mid-palate. At this early stage, the tannins feel largely oak-derived. But there is nothing blunt about them and there is ample mineral infusion and freshness. Bottle age will serve this rich Amarone well, placating the primary fruit while transforming the wine into something far more complex. Very good. Drink or hold." 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This Amarone leaps from the glass with an array ...

91 points James Suckling: "Reductive aromas of violets and camphor segue to black cherries and licorice root. This needs an aggressive decant, but the mouthfeel is polished and slick. The tannins are well wrought and compact. A full-weighted wine in a modern style that will have its fans. Sustainable. Drink or hold. " 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Tart cherries and raspberries mingle with dried oregano and thyme on the nose. Earthy undertones and fine tannins grace the palate, as bright cherry flavors are added by vibrant acidity to lift the wine on the f...

Wine Enthusiast: "There is something candied, almost confected about the pretty Mirabelle fruit on the nose. The palate is fresh with a slightly bitter edge of tartness. This might benefit from a little more bottle age to integrate. (AK) " (11/2018) K&L Notes: A blend of 80% Pinot Blanc and 20% Riesling. Full of tiny bubbles and lemony freshness. An elegant sparkler for less than $20!

91 points James Suckling: "This shows notes of pink nectarines, cherry blossoms, dried citrus peel and subtle hints of pastry crust. Sleek and round-textured with fine bubbles and a chalky, mineral aftertaste. Pinot noir. Drink now." (01/2024) Wine Advocate: "The salmon-colored NV Crémant d'Alsace Rosé Brut is a pure limestone Pinot Noir that opens with a very attractive brioche and fruit aroma on the pure yet intense and elegant nose that is reminiscent of red fruits such as strawberries, raspberries and pomegranate. Round and supple on the palate, th...

Jancis Robinson: "A pretty, pale pink. Lacy, persistent bubbles. Clean, fresh and absolutely packed with ripe summer strawberries. Not remotely complex but there is so much delicious fruit in there that who cares?! 16/20 points. (TC)" (03/2017) Wine Enthusiast: "A creamy, almost buttery note appears alongside the strawberry aroma on the nose. The palate is full of lively, frothy and soft fizz that underlines this richness while hints of red apple and lemon add some fruitiness. This foams in its roundness all the way to the dry finish. Very long finish that’s extremely stony and filigree. Sustainable. Drink or hold." (09/2024) K&L Notes: 95pts Fallstaff Magazine: "Pale golden yellow, silver reflections. 2023 Allram Grüner Veltliner Kamptal (1L)
Top Pick!
Joel B Payne of Vinous writes: "Michaela Allram took over the family estate in its third generation with her winemaking husband Erich Haas in 1992. Among their 30 hectares of organic vineyards are choice parcels in both the Heiligenstein and Gaisberg sites. Although they export a majority of their wines, they're not as well known as some of their colleagues. That is a pity, for their wines are alluring and approachable and often among the finest produced in the Kamptal."

The nose offers clear cherry and strawberry notes with hints of red apple and yeast alongside pastry and toast aromas. In the mouth, the bubbles are fine and dry with a malic palate anchored in a terse flow, a medium-bodied mousse and sustained flavors. (JH) " (08/2022)

94 points James Suckling: "Lots of finely roasted sweet spice and roasted sesame to the blackberries, cassis and iron, together with hints of blue fruit and cured meat. A medium-to full-bodied palate, filled with rather generous sweet berries. Fleshy, supple and savory with quite fine-grained tannins and a long finish. First year with 10% new wood. 81% cabernet sauvignon, 12% carmenere, 5% merlot and 2% cabernet franc. Already delicious, but can hold, too. 2005 Alois Kracher "Grande Cuvée #7" Trockenbeerenauslese Burgenland (375ml)
New!
94 points Vinous: "Nothing really sticks out in the 2005 #7 Grand Cuvée Trockenbeerenauslese Nouvelle Vague, a wine that is first and foremost about total balance. The style is rich, layered and sumptuous. Apricot jam, cloves and orange peel are supported by lovely beams of acidity. I am not sure the 2005 will improve materially from here, but it might very well keep at this gorgeous plateau for a number of years. Today, it is striking. 2004 Alois Kracher Chardonnay TBA #9 Nouvelle Vague 375ml
Back In Stock!
97 points Vinous: " Medium golden yellow. Aromas of tropical fruits, honey, vanilla and lichee are complemented by discreet and noble oak, with fully ripe peach joining in on the palate. The wine's substantial residual sugar is perfectly integrated and leavened by refreshing acidity. It is rare that a wine with 275 grams per liter of residual sweetness can remain so easy to drink, but this exceptionally harmonious and luxuriously creamy wine should remain young and playful for many years. 2005 Alois Kracher Welschriesling TBA #8 Zwischen den Seen (375ml)
New!
98 points Vinous: "Medium golden yellow. Initially closed nose opens with aeration to reveal aromas of peach compote, orange peel and dried prune, along with a subtle note of fresh green tobacco leaf. The acidity is at once vibrant and totally integrated, giving the dried pear and apricot flavors a clarity and transparency rarely experienced with welschriesling. Peach, pear and a nearly salty minerality are embedded in a creamy texture. An extraordinarily harmonious and long wine with great potential for further development in bottle. Drink from 2015 to ...

(DWWA 2024)" (06/2024) 94 points Wine & Spirits: "If there were a parallel to a Domaines Ott rosé in Greece, this might be it. The color of cherry blossoms, it’s super elegant, all silken textures filigreed with fruit and acidity. Made from xinomavro, it’s a savory rosé, the variety’s hallmark flavors reading here in a mix of snap peas and barely red strawberries. Lean, long, bright...
