92 points Decanter: "Buttery, caramelised lemons and orange zest on the nose, floral peach blossom and tropical flecks too. Unctuous, rich and dense but given life by zesty citrus fruit. A serious wine with ageing potential. A hint of salinity alongside fresh mint arrives on the finish. 90% Semillon and 10% Sauvignon Blanc, aged for six months in tanks (45%), Sauternes barrels (45%) and new oak barrels (10%). 98 points Decanter: "A New World Chardonnay approaching perfection, this wine like all the 00 Chardonnay's goes through the ‘Black Chardonnay’ method, coming from the very old Chehalem Mountain Vineyard site, planted by Dick Erath in 1969, the third in the Willamette Valley, to own rooted Wente Clone Chardonnay. It's beguilingly reductive in the aromatics, as chipped flint smokiness layers on top of grilled pineapple laced with clover honey and candied ginger on the fringes. The palate is lithe, lively and edgy as ocean brine frames ripe and full Meyer l...

96 points Int'l Wine Review: "The 2022 00 Wines Pinot Noir ‘VGR’ from Willamette Valley pours a captivating medium ruby-blue core with a delicate light pink rim. Crafted from fruit typically destined for the Richard Hermann Cuvée, Chehalem Mountain Old Vines, and Hyland Old Vines, this blend offers a nuanced and layered expression for the vintage. On the nose, spicy pepper and forest herbs provide an inviting introduction, soon followed by flavors of red Bing cherries, mountain huckleberries, and bright orange zest. Earthy notes of damp soil and allspice...

96 points James Suckling: "Flint, green apples and white rosemary on the nose, reductive to start with, opening up to wildflower honey, lemon curd and bread. Deliciously saline and creamy on the palate, with a salted-butter edge to the flinty and zesty fragrances. Full-bodied and layered. From Wente clones. Better from 2026. (CN) " (01/2025) 96 points Vinous: "The 2022 Chardonnay Chehalem Mountain pulls the taster down into the earth as a whiff of flowery underbrush, wet stones and crushed rocks leads to musky apricot and the slightest hint of patchoul...

The 135º meridian east runs through Akashi City in the Hyogo prefecture, home of our Kaikyo Distillery. Inspired by the Taisho period, the Hyogo Gin alludes to a time when East and Western culture were melding within Japan. This concepts exemplifies the style and even the ingredients, which are designed to enhance and complement each other. Traditional London Dry Gin botanicals mingle with Japanese botanicals, topped with a splash of sake spirit. This small, "single tina" ensamble was distilled by Atenogenes García of San Isidro Guishe, Oaxaca. Atenogenes, along with friends and family, roasted a large quantity of different agave varieties that they harvested in the region for about eight days in an underground oven. From there, the agaves were mashed with a tractor-pulled two-ton tahona to create a fermentable mash. To make this batch, Atenogenes selected approximately 50% agave Madrecuixe (a. Karwinskii), 40% Espadín (a. Angustifolia), 8% Bicuixe (a. Karwinskii) & 2% Tepextate (a. Marmorata). ...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This plush port barrel-finished Bourbon opens with brown sugar, drying to a spiced edged with red fruit notes. Adding a splash of water snaps it into focus, suggesting a slice of cherry pie topped with caramelized brown sugar and maple. *Top 100 Spirits of 2018* (KN)" (07/2018) K&L Notes: The new release from the wonderful A. Smith Bowman Distillery is inspired by the Limited Release from 2016. That special little whiskey was awarded World's Best Bourbon by Whisky Magazine. 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Though it needs a little coaxing, this small-batch bourbon is a fitting tribute to the four Bowman brothers, Virginia militia officers in the Revolutionary War. Give it some time and a splash of ice water, and the aromas and flavors open up. Look for sweet notes of almond, cocoa and caramel, plus the clove and nutmeg notes that build on the finish. *Best Buy* (KN)" (07/2012) K&L Notes: Distilled three times on a pot still like an Irish whiskey, Bowman Distillery in Virginia has been quietly churning out elegant bourbon whisk...

Very fresh and bright in spite of the ample richness and unfermented grape sweetness on the medium-bodied palate. No sign of honey from botrytis, but great peachy fruit and stacks of wet-stone character in the very long finish. Drink or hold." (07/2024) K&L Notes: 93pts Mosel Fine Wines: "AP: 17 24. After working for nearly two decades in finance, Andrew Vingiello decided to pursue his other passion and began making wine while working with Brian Loring. In 2003, Vingiello released his own wines and since then has further refined his own style in producing vineyard-designate Pinot Noirs. The Kanzler Vineyard was planted in 1996 in a part of Sonoma County long considered too cold and foggy for grapes but which proved ideal for Pinot Noir.

Utilizing the ancient tradition of nixtamalization before beginning the distillation Abasolo draws out some of the most intense corn flavors of any whisky in the shop. Nixtamalizing is a washing process that has been done on maize for thousands of years to prepare it for cooking. The washing of kernals in an alkalie solution removes naturally occuring aflotoxins and allows the kernals to be ground more easily and worked into a dough when cooking. As an added benefit it enhances flavor. This fact is what makes for such a good whisky. Shockingly smooth and...
