2023 Domaine Bart Marsannay Rouge "Les Ouzeloy"

The 2023 Ouzeloy leads with an impressively complex nose of ripe red cherry, fragrant vanilla, toasted wood, and smoke. Sinking into the midpalate, there is black tea, earthiness, and fine tannins over the medium body. In all, this is an ambitious and serious Marsannay that shows well young, but should develop even more complexity over the next five years.
2021 Keever "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

A delightfully rich Cab from the hill above Yountville that still maintains all the herbal intrigue of the grape. Cocktail cherries, creme de cassis, and candied plums quickly give way to mint, sage, and eucalyptus notes. Cedar and vanilla hang in the background letting the expressive primary notes shine. The tannins jump out on the finish, lending some backbone to an otherwise fully hedonistic experience. At this price point, this is a seriously convincing wine that will hold its own with many higher-priced addresses. Fans of Joseph Phelps, Harlan, and Schrader should absolutely check this out.
