2023 K&L Discovery Series Italy, Barbera d'Alba Superiore
Review Date: 07-21-2026
Delicious, classic flavors of dark plums, juicy blackberries, oolong tea, dried thyme, and a touch of earth. Complex enough on it's own, but will elevate your favorite pizza, as any great Barbera should!

$19.99
2023 Planeta Chardonnay
Review Date: 06-07-2026
I remember my first bottle of 'Planeta' from my second year in the wine industry. I was surprised to see a Chardonnay from Italy, as it was and still is relatively uncommon. At the time I remember it being richer, loaded with expressive tropical fruits.Tasting this 2023 vintage now, I am pleased that the style have evolved along with my palate. Now it is showcasing maritime influences with beautiful tones of salinity and crushed minerals, juxtaposed with a nice touch of oak. Quite delicious, much more balanced than before. If you ever wanted to try a Sicilian expression of the famous varietal, this is the perfect place to start.
2021 Planeta "Maroccoli" Menfi Syrah
Review Date: 06-07-2026
An intriguing, engaging wine, jampacked with flavors of black plums, ripe blueberries, dark roast coffee beans, earth, tar, baking spices, and mocha dust tannins on the finish. There are many layers to this wine, a lot happening, but it remains well balanced and approachable. A delicious, distinctive, delightful Syrah from an unconventional origin. Cheers!
2023 Planeta Etna Rosso
Review Date: 06-07-2026
It seems that the wines of Etna are getting more and more popular these days, and there are good reasons for that. The volcanic reds are fresh, light, normally with a pretty minerality to them. This rosso adheres to that typicity and authentically showcases the flavors of Nerello Mascalese under volcanic influence. Explosive notes of fresh wild strawberries, hibiscus juice, a touch of pomegranate, dried thyme, a touch of ash, and crushed earth. There is a distinctive smokiness and ample acidity through the lip smacking finish. A refreshing, and often economical alternative to quality Pinot Noirs.

I've been drinking lots of Italian white wines lately, and it is because of delightful wines like these. Beautiful aromas and flavors of the fresh stone fruits, yellow pears, jasmine tea, and a touch of crystallized ginger. A crisp, refreshing wine that kept growing on me till it was gone. Enjoy!

2021 Vigneti Repetto 'Sfera' Barbera Colli Tortonesi
Review Date: 05-26-2026
I love a good bottle of Barbera and this one is right up my alley. First whiff, beautiful savory aromas of dried rosemary, laurel, and thyme. Along with flavors of dark cherries, black raspberries, red apple skins, sarsaparilla, and a touch of dark chocolate on the refreshing, juicy finish. Cheers!

2023 Domaine de l'Amandine Côtes-du-Rhône-Villages Séguret
Review Date: 05-13-2026
Quality strawberry jam, cherry cola, kirsch, a touch of peppercorn, and leather. Refreshing and expressive on the palate, would pair well with a variety of roasted meats. Bring this to a party or a pic-nic!

2024 Laberinto "Cenizas" Pinot Noir Valle de Maule
Review Date: 04-16-2026
I love the aromas of this wine. You can almost smell the volcanic ash from the vineyards. Ripe pomegranates, wild strawberries, fresh cherries, touch of hibiscus, and hints of charcoal on the finish. Like a crossover between a Pinot Noir from Dundee Hills and the volcanic reds from Mount Etna, at a fraction of the price. Distinctive and delicious!

2023 Schiopetto Friulano Collio
Review Date: 02-26-2026
When I first tasted Schiopetto's M Collio Friulano, I instantly became a fan. Luckily, this entry level Fruilano bottling offers a comparable experience, at a level of complexity for a fraction of the price. Bruised apricots, ripe citrus, lemon skin, fresh quince, jasmine tea, and wet gravel. Texturally, nice delicate tannins, and a crisp, refreshing finish.
2023 Schiopetto Sauvignon Blanc Collio
Review Date: 02-26-2026
Sauvignon Blancs from Northern Italy is a category I've been exploring lately. Often more expressive and distinctive, offering a fresh take on the famous varietal. Aromas of plump stone fruits, fresh lemons, yellow pear, slices of ginger, a touch of dried herbs. On the palate, crisp, clean, lively, with a nice, slight viscosity on the finish. Delicious!
2022 Schiopetto M Collio Friulano
Review Date: 02-18-2026
Beautiful aromas and flavors of plump apricots, white nectarine, lemon curd, quality macadamia nuts, chamomile tea, white mushrooms, and a touch of tarragon. There's a lot happening here. Vibrant, yet lush, with a very long finish. Take your time with this. The wine keeps evolving and every sip equally delicious. One of the most complex Friulano I've tasted so far.
2021 Donvitantonio Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
Review Date: 02-18-2026
Fascinating aromas of savory dried herbs. Sage, parsley, and a touch of tarragon.
Explosive flavors blackberries, peppercorn, dark coffee beans, a hint of black olives and persimmon. Delicious on its own, will elevate any poultry dish. Cheers!

2023 Manincor "Il Conte" Vigneti delle Dolomiti
Review Date: 02-18-2026
Lagrein, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. I had not tasted this blend before, but now I am very intrigued. Aromas of kirsch, pomegranate, and hibiscus. On the palate, refreshing flavors of plums, ripe figs, black cherries, and dark chocolate. A light bodied, chillable red, that is equally delightful as it is complex. One of my personal favorites from the Italian section at the moment.

2022 Fèlsina Berardenga Chianti Classico
Review Date: 01-17-2026
Flavors of black and red cherries, tomato on vine, along with savory notes of thyme, rosemary, and paprika. Some aeration reveals hints of leather, dried leaves, and potting soil. Nicely textured tannins on the long finish. A solid, classic expression of the category with more weight on the mid-palate than other Chianti. This will pair well with a wide variety of dishes. Perfect for anyone who wants to explore one of my favorite categories.
2020 K&L Discovery Series Italy, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano
Review Date: 10-10-2025
Sangiovese is one of my favorite varietals. A truly unique grape most often recognized in the famous wines of Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti. Yet 'Vino Nobile' di Montepulciano, once among Italy’s most prestigious wine regions, is often overlooked. Today, it’s a hidden gem for Sangiovese lovers, offering remarkable quality at an exceptional value. On the nose, pretty aromas of red apple skin, savory dried herbs, fresh laurel, old leather, and an array of red berries. On the palate, lively, lifted, with a long, refreshing finish. A versatile wine that can pair with a variety of dishes. Perfect for a dinner party.

2022 La Tour Léognan, Pessac-Léognan
Review Date: 09-25-2025
Pessac-Léognan is one of my favorite appellations in Bordeaux. These wines showcase distinctive notes of terracotta and minerality. This bottling from the famous Château Carbonnieux encapsulates that Pessac character at a stunning value, along with juicy red fruits and an earthy finish.

I love a good Barolo that leans towards the savory, earthy side, and that is exactly what this wine showcases. Delicious flavors of soft plums, dark cherries, with developed, intriguing notes of laurel, tobacco leaf, tajin, and a touch of paprika. An excellent bottle of wine, and it's ready now!

Fallet-Dart "Clos du Mont" Brut Champagne (2006)
Review Date: 07-10-2025
Fallet Dart's single vineyard 'Clos du Mont' is a great example of a perfectly balanced, well-aged Champagne. Aromas and flavors of white jasmine, slices of yellow pears, soft apricots, bruised lemons, and marzipan. Barrel fermentation adds complexity, several years on lees gives it texture, and ample acidity maintains it's freshness.

2022 Château du Perry Malbec Cahors
Review Date: 08-15-2024
While Argentina currently champions the Malbec varietal, it is no secret that Cahors France is it's true origin. Here it shows lighter, crunchy red fruits, savory dried herbs, black peppercorns, a touch of earth, and a long spicy finish. A great introduction to the category, as it demonstrates the characteristics of Malbec from Cahors, while being a delicious, crowd-pleasing wine, at an entry level price point.

Maison Laudacius "Laudacius" Brut Nature Montlouis Methode Traditionnelle
Review Date: 08-04-2024
Slices of fresh golden apples, ripe Asian pears, juicy quince, touch of yellow mangos, hint of pineapples, and salted biscuits. Super refreshing, lively acidity, bone dry, with a chalky-saline finish. Crushable, crowd pleasing, and budget friendly. The perfect sparkly to keep multiple bottles of in the fridge!
Hidalgo La Gitana "La Gitana" Manzanilla Sanlucar de Barrameda (500ml)
Review Date: 03-22-2023
Notes of lemon, green apple, candlewax, almonds, chamomile, saline, and brine.
Refreshing, well balanced, and very approachable. A perfect introduction to manzanilla.
