Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2017 Tor Kenward Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (92RP, 91VN). Wine Advocate: "This is the first time TOR has made a barrel selection from their Oakville vineyards, predominantly Tierra Roja in Oakville East. It is composed of barrels selected to reveal the "red-fruited, softer, juicier side of the Tierra Roja vineyard". Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon comes sashaying out of the glass with open-knit notes of warm red and black plums, kirsch and cassis with wafts of bay leaves, tar, underbrush and tilled soil. Medium-bodied, the palate has bold freshness and a firm frame of chewy tannins with a core of evocative, crunchy red and black fruits, finishing long and earthy. (LPB) 92+" (10/2019)
Current Bid: $240.00

Bid on this bottle of 1998 Drouhin Laroze Clos Vougeot.
Current Bid: $115.00

Bid on this bottle of 2004 Domaine Weinbach "Cuvée Laurence" Gewürztraminer Alsace (90RP). Wine Advocate: "Dramatically different from its 2005 counterpart, the 2004 Gewurztraminer Cuvee Laurence is scented with celery seed, citrus rind, rose petals, and narcissus. Lacking the richness of the 2005, it partly makes up for this in sheer juiciness of fruit, and elegant length, remarkably refreshing for its grape of origin not to mention for a wine of considerable sweetness. (DS)" (02/2008)
Current Bid: $32.00

Bid on this bottle of 1997 Clarendon Hills "Liandra Vineyard" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia (92RP). Wine Advocate: "The 1997 Shiraz Liandra (14.5% natural alcohol) is a blend of the Clarendon and Kangarilla vineyards. It has an opaque purple color, as well as black cherry and blackberry-scented aromatics with tarry pepper notes. The wine is enormous, with extraordinary fatness and succulence, an unctuous texture, as well as a long, 35-second finish. Drink it over the next 12-15 years. This wine is a crowd-pleasing, exotic offering that takes the level of richness and hedonism to sensational heights. This wine is worth trying if only because of its compelling purity, opulence, and explosive richness. (RP)" (02/2002)
Current Bid: $31.00

Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2018 Domaine Eden Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay (93W&S, 93WE, 92VN, 90JD). Wine Enthusiast: "Toasty wood aromas meet with lemon oil and concentrated honeysuckle on the nose of this affordable sister to Mount Eden. There is a firm grip to the palate, where those citrus and wood flavors converge alongside salted sunflower seeds and cashew. (MK)" (11/2021)
Starting Bid: $175.00

Bid on this bottle of 2011 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru (96DC, 96VN, 95JM, 94JG, 94RP, 94ST, 93BH). Vinous: "A wine of pure silkiness, finesse and lyric beauty, the 2011 Romanée St.-Vivant graces the palate with dried rose petals, mint, violets and bright red berries, all supported by super-polished, crystalline tannins. Cool veins of underlying minerality support the precise, articulate finish. The 2011 is an introspective Burgundy built for the cellar, but it is drop-dead gorgeous. (AG)" (03/2014)
Current Bid: $2,145.00

Bid on this bottle of 2016 Bryant Family Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 99JS, 99VN, 98DC, 98JD). Wine Advocate: "Composed of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon entirely from the Pritchard Hill estate and aged in 90% new oak, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is deep garnet-purple colored and has a disarmingly profound red roses and red and black currant nose with wild blueberries and yeast extract accents plus tapenade, tilled soil, subtle exotic spices and pencil shavings and the faintest waft of lavender. The palate is ethereal in its weight with a medium to full-body supported by firm yet perfectly ripe, grainy tannins structuring the tightly wound savory layers and leading to a very long, fragrant earth finish. So poised, so classy, so Bryant. (LPB)" (10/2018)
Current Bid: $461.00

Bid on this bottle of 2016 Bond "Vecina" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (100RP, 99JD, 99JS, 97VN, 96WS). Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Vecina slips sensuously out of the glass with gorgeous black cherries, kirsch, wild blueberries and blackcurrant pastilles notes plus suggestions of bouquet garni, pencil lead, tilled earth and underbrush. Full-bodied, taut and packed with ripe, expressive, exquisitely accented black and blue fruits, it has loads of earthy sparks and a compelling fine-grained nature to the firm texture, finishing long and layered. This bright, energetic, incredibly nuanced beauty is built like a brick house and, while approachable in youth, is easily a 50-year wine. (LPB)" (09/2019)
Current Bid: $431.00

Bid on this 3-bottle tasting lot; including 1-bottle of 1977 Fonseca Guimaraens Vintage Port, 1-bottle of 1985 Graham's Vintage Port (97DC, 96RP, 96WS, 94JS), and 1-bottle of 1987 Churchill "Quinta da Agua Alta" Vintage Port. Of the 1985 Graham's Vintage Port, Decanter writes: "Probably the best wine from a good, ripe though rather variable vintage: still deep at the centre with a thin tawny rim; lovely ripe plummy aromas, open but still brooding with more to reveal; ripe and fleshy on the palate with glorious plum and cherry fruit backed by firm ripe tannins leading to a powerful finish. Ready to drink now and will keep and develop in bottle for another thirty years at least! (RM)" (09/2021)
Current Bid: $234.00

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Dalla Valle "Maya" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (96RP, 94WS, 93VN). Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Proprietary Maya, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, is one of the first wines in Napa to showcase the brilliance of Cabernet Franc grown in selected microclimates. (I recall the 1971 Robert Mondavi Reserve, which had healthy doses of Cabernet Franc and first raised the potential of this grape in Napa.) Many vintages of Maya have had much more Cabernet Franc than this particular one, but the 2005 Maya has a beautiful, dense ruby/purple color, a youthful, but extremely promising bouquet of forest floor, spring flora, blueberry, raspberry and blackcurrant fruit, medium to full body (14.5% alcohol), an almost skyscraper texture, and a long, long finish of close to 40+ seconds. This is a stunner that is still remarkably youthful at age ten. This has turned out to be one of the superstars of a very impressive vintage.(RP)" (06/2015)
Current Bid: $252.00

Bid on this bottle of 1990 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac (98DC, 96RP, 96VN, 95JA, 95WS). Decanter: "The drive, power and poise of Bordeaux blending at its best. A glorious, seamless meld of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, with 36% Merlot, brings power and toned muscle to the big, rich body that fills out a plush mid-palate, with all the elements comfortably integrated and striking perfect balance between vivacious energy and a luxurious texture. Gorgeous drinking right now. (DS)" (04/2024)
Current Bid: $590.00

Bid on this bottle of 2009 Smith Haut Lafitte Rouge, Pessac-Léognan (100JD, 100RP, 98DC, 97JA, 96JS, 96WS). Wine Advocate: "The finest wine ever made by proprietors Daniel and Florence Cathiard, the 2009 Smith-Haut-Lafitte exhibits an opaque blue/purple color in addition to a glorious nose of acacia flowers, licorice, charcoal, blueberries, black raspberries, lead pencil shavings and incense. This massive, extraordinarily rich, unctuously textured wine may be the most concentrated effort produced to date, although the 2000, 2005 and 2010 are nearly as prodigious. A gorgeous expression of Pessac-Leognan with sweet tannin, emerging charm and delicacy, and considerable power, depth, richness and authority, it should age effortlessly for 30-40+ years. Bravo! (RP)" (02/2012)
Current Bid: $225.00

Bid on this 2-bottle tasting lot; including 1-bottle of 1988 Laurel Glen Sonoma Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (90JG, 90RP) and 1-bottle of 1993 Laurel Glen "Counterpoint" Cabernet Sauvignon. Of the 1988 Laurel Glen Sonoma Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, Wine Advocate writes: "The 1988 is one of the leading candidates for "Cabernet of the Vintage". Dark ruby/purple, with a moderately intense, licorice, herb, and cassis-scented bouquet, this opulently styled, full-bodied, intense Cabernet Sauvignon coats the palate with viscous, rich flavors, and has a finish that must last for nearly 40 seconds. Laurel Glen made a strict selection in 1988, and the commitment to excellence by proprietor Patrick Campbell is evident in this generously constituted, impressive, albeit expensive Cabernet." (10/1993)
Starting Bid: $55.00

Bid on this bottle of 2007 Hundred Acre "Kayli Morgan" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP). Wine Advocate: "A profound wine from a superb Napa vintage for Bordeaux varietals, the 2007’s nose may cause one to overdose on blue, black and red berry fruit. The extraordinary intensity, purity and depth in this rich, flamboyant, exuberant wine are mindboggling. This bigger-than-life Cabernet Sauvignon appears set for 20-30 years of aging. It can be drunk now, but because of its sweet, velvety tannins, it will still be offering sensational drinking in 2040. (RP)" (06/2012)
Current Bid: $426.00

Bid on this bottle of 2016 Realm "Farella Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (98JS, 97RP, 97WE, 96JD, 95DC, 95VN). James Suckling: "Intense aromas of licorice, blackberries and tar follow through to a full body, firm and silky tannins and a flavorful finish. Turns spicy, including red pepper and cayenne." (10/2018)
Current Bid: $145.01

Bid on this bottle of 1975 Rieussec, Sauternes (90RP). Wine Advocate: "Still remarkably youthful looking, and slow to evolve, this is a powerful, concentrated, and rich Sauternes, with decades of life ahead of it. Lemon, tropical fruit, and vanillin oaky aromas titillate the olfactory glands. Tight, yet rich, full-bodied flavors reveal marvelous balance and richness. It is aging at a snail's pace. (RP)" (01/1998)
Current Bid: $168.00

Bid on this 11-bottle tasting lot; including 1-bottle of 2020 Ridge Vineyards "Benito Dusi Ranch" Paso Robles Zinfandel (94JS, 93WE, 90VN), 2-bottles of 2020 Ridge Vineyards "Boatman" Sonoma Valley Zinfandel (94W&S, 92WE, 92WS, 90JD), 2-bottles of 2020 Ridge Vineyards "Buchignani Ranch" Sonoma County Carignane (94JS, 93WE, 92W&S, 90VN), 1-bottle of 2020 Ridge Vineyards "Corralitos - Gali Vineyard" Santa Cruz County Pinot Noir, 1-bottle of 2020 Ridge Vineyards "Halter Ranch" Adelaida District Grenache Blanc (92WS), 2-bottles of 2020 Ridge Vineyards "Lytton Estate" Dry Creek Valley Syrah/Grenache/Mataro (93WE), and 2-bottles of 2020 Ridge Vineyards "Mazzoni Home Ranch" Sonoma County Zinfandel (91W&S, 91WE). Of the 2020 Ridge Vineyards "Benito Dusi Ranch" Paso Robles Zinfandel, James Suckling writes: "This is a generous red with tannins that spread across the palate. The fruit shows so much dark berry, chocolate and walnut husk character. It's long and flavorful. Juicy Dusi." (09/2022)
Current Bid: $297.00

Bid on this bottle of 2010 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac (100JS, 100RP, 100TWI). Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Pontet-Canet offers a very deep garnet color. Whoa—the nose explodes with a vast array of black fruit preserves and savory nuances: plum preserves, blackcurrant cordial, black cherry coulis and licorice with wafts of dried lavender, melted chocolate, charcuterie, black olives, truffles and camphor plus a hint of sandalwood. The full-bodied palate is completely filled with black fruits, exotic spices and earthy nuances with a firm foundation of ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness, finishing with epic length and depth. So much more expressive and seductive than a lot of 2010s at this stage, and yet it is still incredibly youthful! (LPB)" (05/2020)
Current Bid: $200.00

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Colgin "Cariad" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (100RP, 97VN, 95WE, 94JS, 94WS). Wine Advocate: "The blend that Colgin fashions from three vineyards owned by David Abreu (Madrona, Thorevilos and Howell Mountain) is called Cariad. The 2005 Proprietary Red Cariad consists of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc and 9% Petit Verdot. Offering up spring flowers and garden aromas, sweet blueberry and black raspberry fruit, a touch of charcoal embers, graphite and background toast, it is fleshy and full-bodied, and again, meriting a three-digit score. This is absolutely remarkable wine. As it sat in the glass, it developed some rather compelling chocolaty, licorice undertones. This is a great classic to drink over the next 20-25 years. By the way, for those interested, the cooperage generally chosen is dominated by Taransaud barrels, but there are at least four different coopers. (RP)" (06/2015)
Current Bid: $295.00

Bid on this bottle of 1995 Aldo Conterno "Cicala" Barolo (90WS). Wine Spectator: "Classy aromas of wild berries, smoke and dried herbs are appealing. Medium to full in body, with a clean, rather crisp frame, it has a enough concentration of ripe and rich fruit to suggest cellaring for extra complexity. The mineral, soillike taste of terroir is impressive on the long finish. Best after 2002." (11/1999)
Current Bid: $101.00

Bid on this 2-magnum lot of 1987 Caymus Special Selection Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L). According to Robert Parker: The Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon, which spends significant time in oak, can be one of California's most riveting wines. First made in 1975, there have been some exceptionally concentrated, powerful wines that are still young and evolving (i.e, the 1978, 1976, and 1975). The decade of the eighties produced less profound Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignons, with the exception of the 1984 and 1985.(10/1993)*Ranked #3 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 1991*
Current Bid: $682.00

Bid on this bottle of 2009 Pichon-Baron, Pauillac (98DC, 98RP, 96JA, 96ST, 96VN, 96WE, 95JS, 95WS). Wine Advocate: "Revealing incredible quality and performing better than it did from barrel, the 2009 appears to be the greatest Pichon Longueville Baron since the 1990 and 1989. An amazing opaque blue/purple color is followed by scents of spring flowers, graphite, smoky charcoal, incense, blackberries, blueberries and hints of coffee and chocolate. Incredibly intense, pure and flawlessly constructed with extravagant layers of fruit and richness, this offering has developed beautifully under the management of Christian Seeley. It is a voluptuous, opulent Pichon Longueville Baron that may eclipse anything they have made in the past. (RP)" (12/2011)
Current Bid: $191.00

Bid on this 2-bottle tasting lot; including 1-bottle of 1987 Grgich Hills Napa Valley Chardonnay and 1-bottle of 1989 Chalone Chardonnay (90WS). Of the 1989 Chalone Chardonnay, Wine Spectator writes: "Has very earthy, smoky aromas that border on musty, but the flavors are ripe and the texture is round and supple. Fig and grapefruit flavors come on slowly and gain complexity on the finish, making for a very distinctive, individual wine. *Highly Recommended*" (11/1990)
Current Bid: $125.00

Bid on this bottle of 2019 Vine Hill Ranch "VHR" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (100DC, 100RP, 99JD, 99TWI, 98IWR, 98JS, 98VN, 98WE). Wine Advocate: "Even better than the stunning 2018, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon evokes darker-skinned berries, hinting at black cherries and cassis, while still showing the vineyard's earthy-loamy side. It's a full-bodied, plush wine, with great concentration, a rich, velvety texture and a long, elegant finish that seems to linger for several minutes. Wow! (JC)" (01/2024)
Starting Bid: $295.00

Bid on this bottle of 2019 Torrin "The Maven" Willow Creek Grenache (94JS, 93RP, 93VN). James Suckling: "This pure grenache shows depth and firmness with ripe-strawberry and floral aromas and flavors. Medium to full body, integrated tannins and a fresh finish. Bright. Hints of tar at the end. Very polished on the palate. " (03/2022)
Starting Bid: $125.00

Bid on this bottle of 2012 Bodegas El Nido "Clio" Jumilla (93WE, 92VN). Wine Enthusiast: "An intense bouquet with resiny oak, coconut, fig, prune and blackberry aromas is staunch and heady. This is yet another lush, deep, high-alcohol wine from the Gil family. Baked black-fruit flavors register at max ripeness, while flavors of coffee, chocolate and toast push the finish on this flamboyant Monastrell blend. Drink through 2020. *Editors' Choice* (MS)" (12/2015)
Current Bid: $54.00

Bid on this bottle of 2019 Quilceda Creek "Tchelistcheff - Mach One Vineyard - Clone 412" Horse Heaven Hills Cabernet Sauvignon (98JS, 98VN, 96JD, 96RP). Vinous: "The thrilling, deeply concentrated 2019 Tchelistcheff Mach One Vineyard Clone 412 pays homage to Paul Golitzin’s great-uncle, who was a Napa pioneer, formerly at BV for more than 20 years as head winemaker. This clone 412 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Mach One vineyard shows off crème de violette tones alongside tar, black currant jelly, Asian spices and blueberry compote tones that all collide in the glass. The gorgeous, softtexture really entices as crème de cassis, anise, dark chocolate shavings and coffee grounds come together seamlessly on the palate. With beautiful length, flavor and density that is rarely seen in 2019 Washington red wine, the 2019 Tchelistcheff will cellar well for another 20 years to come. (OB)" (03/2022)
Current Bid: $130.00

Bid on this bottle of 2012 Antica Terra "Antikythera" Emola-Amity Hills Pinot Noir (95VN, 93WS, 91RP). Vinous: "Bright violet color. An explosively perfumed bouquet evokes an array of ripe red and dark berry, floral pastille and incense scents, along with suggestions of cola, mocha and smoky minerals. Conveys a compelling blend of richness and vivacity on the palate, offering deeply concentrated black raspberry, cherry liqueur, spicecake and candied lavender flavors that spread out on the back half. Showy but also impeccably balanced, finishing with slowly arriving velvety tannins and remarkable clarity and cling. A star of this superb vintage, which isn't short of standout wines. (JR)" (10/2015)
Current Bid: $256.00

Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2018 Mount Eden Edna Valley Chardonnay. Notes on the producer from Antonio Galloni for Vinous: "There are so many compelling wines in this range from Mount Eden and sister estate Domaine Eden. The Wolff Vineyard Chardonnay, from a site in Edna Valley, is once again a ridiculous value. Not to be outdone, the Domaine Eden Chardonnay is not too far behind. At the upper end, the 2018 Mount Eden Chardonnay is fabulous, while the 2017 Reserve, which sees a second year of aging in tank, is so elegant. It’s a similar theme in the Pinot Noirs. The Domaine Eden bottling is more forward and fruity, while the Mount Eden wine has more whole cluster influence and greater structure. And then there are the Cabernets, which are reference points for the appellation. Minimal intervention farming, with very little irrigation at Domaine Eden and basically none at Mount Eden, is standard. The wines are done with spontaneous ferments and are barely touched in aging." (05/2022)
Current Bid: $77.00

Bid on this bottle of 2016 Blue Monster "Sleeping Lady Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Blue Monster is named after the wine maker Gellis’s pet dogs (Apollo and Sarto) which he affectionately calls his “monsters.” Blue Monster is a blend of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from three blocks (blocks, or parcels, are distinct growing plots within a vineyard) of the Sleeping Lady Vineyard in Napa Valley.
Current Bid: $155.00

Bid on this bottle of 2017 St. Helena Winery "Sympa" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ((91-93RP), (88-91VN)). Wine Advocate: "A barrel sample, the deep garnet-purple colored 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Sympa reveals beautiful redcurrants, kirsch and blackberry notions with hints of dried herbs, lavender, damp soil and tar. Medium to full-bodied, it has a firm, chewy frame and plenty of freshness, finishing long and savory. (LPB)" (10/2018)
Starting Bid: $125.00

Bid on this bottle of 2018 Cayuse "God Only Knows" Walla Walla Valley Grenache (99VN, 98JD, 97JS, 96RP, 94WE, 93WS). Vinous: "The 2018 Red Wine God Only Knows is a truly mesmerizing blend of nearly all Grenache with a small part Syrah, sourced from the Armada vineyard, farmed at a mere 1.5 tons per acre. The incredibly savory nose features blood orange zest, red cherry candy, nori and pomegranate seed with stony undertones. The palate is liquid silk that makes this wine truly all its own. Lip-smacking acidity, beautiful tension and an exceedingly long finish add to the equation. The purity of fruit here is second to none. This very “Château Rayas” bottling is nothing short of perfection in the bottle. (OB)" (10/2021)
Current Bid: $205.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2019 Domaine Eden Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay (93WE, 93WS). Wine Enthusiast: "Aromas of lemon confit, toasted almond, damp oak and a hint of sour cream make for a complex and compelling nose on this bottling. The palate opens with toasted nut flavors before heading into lemon curd, dried nectarine and sea salt. That blanched almond touch returns for the finish. (MK)" (11/2022)
Current Bid: $75.00

Bid on this bottle of 2002 Arnaud Ente Puligny-Montrachet ''Les Referts'' 1er Cru ((94-95RP), 94JG, 94ST, (89-92BH)). Wine Advocate: "The exceptional 2002 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts bursts from the glass with creamed hazelnuts, spices, and lilies. Medium to full-bodied, hugely expansive and tangy, this wine blossoms on the palate with subtle, delicate, refined flavors of flowers, resin, and minerals. A feminine, pure, graceful wine, it has magnificent concentration, complexity, and length. (PR)" (02/2004)
Starting Bid: $650.00

Bid on this bottle of 2018 Hors Categorie Walla Walla Valley Syrah (100VN, 98JD, 98WE, 97JS, 97RP). Vinous: "Literally translated as “a place of its own, ” the 2018 Syrah from Hors Catégorie was sourced from a two-acre plot at 1, 400 feet of densely planted 11 years old Syrah vines. Aromatically quite intense, it shows a very Côte-Rôtie nose as green peppercorns, iron, bull’s blood, orange rind and black currant scents all take shape in the glass. The palate displays incredible balance and minerality, offering a dense core of blackberry compote, crème de violette, saline-drenched orange, and stony undertones. Glorious in its fresh youth, this has another decade or more to go in the cellar. It’s the finest edition of this wine that I have tasted so far. Tasted twice with similar results. (OB)" (03/2022)
Current Bid: $225.00

Bid on this 2-bottle tasting lot; including 1-bottle of 1983 Bastor Lamontagne, Sauternes (375ml) and 1-bottle of 1983 Bastor-Lamontagne, Sauternes. Of the 1983 Bastor Lamontagne, Sauternes (375ml), Bastor-Lamontagne is clean and richly fruited as a rule, sees very little oak, is consistently excellent in quality and flies firmly under the radar of Sauternes lovers everywhere . Never too expensive, this release is a great fois gras wine. Buy it when you can find it- this is an intelligent purchase for current consumption. Joe Zugelder
Starting Bid: $50.00

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2022 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (OWC - (97-99TWI), 98JA, 98JD, 98JS, 98VN, 97RP, (95-97WE)) in original wood. The Wine Independent: "Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 Haut-Brion is a blend of 53.6% Merlot, 35.4% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 11% Cabernet Franc aging in 62.9% new oak. The nose is typically closed and broody, requiring a lot of shaking to wake up enticing notes of iron ore, red roses, lavender, mint tea, and forest floor, leading to a tantalizing core of plum preserves and blueberry pie. The medium to full-bodied palate is very tightly knit with vibrant black and blue fruit layers and red berry sparks, framed by very fine-grained tannins and a refreshing backbone, finishing long and minerally. A classic, breath-taking expression of Haut-Brion, I expect this to remain shy and restrained for the first 10 years so in bottle, and then watch it soar. (LPB) 97-99+" (05/2023)
Starting Bid: $3,150.00

Bid on this bottle of 1997 Domaine J-F Mugnier Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru. Int'l Wine Cellar: "Rather pale cherry-red. Tighter nose features raspberry, minerals, mint and herbs. Leaner and less generous in the mouth; in fact, a bit hard and ungiving, even green. I don't get the same impression of ripeness here, and yet the pH is a high 3.85. Finishes with drier tannins. (ST)" (03/2000)
Current Bid: $746.00

Bid on this 3-bottle tasting lot; including 1-bottle of 1985 Hospices de Beaune Savigny-les-Beaune Premier Cru Cuvée Arthur Girard, 1-bottle of 1987 Domaine B. Serveau Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Chabiots", and 1-bottle of 1988 Domaine Jean Gros Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Clos des Reas" (94WS). Of the 1988 Domaine Jean Gros Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Clos des Reas", Wine Spectator writes: "Flavorful, graceful and elegant, this beautifully proportioned wine balances plum, raspberry and strawberry flavors against nuances of oak, offering depth and power at the same time. Stash away until 1995 and watch it develop into a beauty. *Ranked #35 of 1991 Top 100 Wines* " (02/1991)
Current Bid: $420.00

Bid on this magnum of 1986 Pahlmeyer "Caldwell Vineyard" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L). Wine Spectator: "Distinct, with minty, herbal overtones to the jammy currant and plum flavors, tannic, tough and intense enough to need cellaring until at least 1994 to soften the edges enough to be drinkable. 1, 000 cases made." (11/89)
Current Bid: $115.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Marcassin "Blue Slide Ridge" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (97WS, 95RP). Wine Spectator: "A gorgeous Pinot that is striking from the get-go. Ripe and sublime, with sweet plum, blueberry and wild berry flavors that are fresh and vivid, this is at once intense and persistent, yet also graceful and refined. *Collectible* (JL)" (02/2013)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Rusden "Black Guts" Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia (97RP). Wine Advocate: "The estate’s prodigious flagship offering is the 2001 Shiraz Black Guts. Made from 35- to 40-year-old vines, and aged 30 months in a combination of new and old French oak and a bit of new American wood, it boasts a blue/black color as well as a fabulous bouquet of smoke, creosote, Asian spices, white flowers, and blackberry liqueur. Dense, full-bodied, and voluptuous, with fabulous precision, good acidity, magnificent concentration, and a fabulous finish, this is the kind of wine that only a handful of South Australia vineyards can consistently achieve. Wine Advocate: "The 2003 Shiraz 9 is a flamboyant, opaque purple-colored, full-bodied effort revealing notes of espresso roast, chocolate, smoked meats, and toasty American oak. Fleshy, full-throttle, pure, and intensely concentrated, it is a classic South Australian Shiraz... (RP)" (10/2004)

Of the 2013 Stone Edge Farm Cabernet Sauvignon, Wine Advocate writes: "The nose is pure, alluring and softly tertiary. Intense milk chocolate, truffle, dried mint, violet and aniseed complement a core of iron-laced black cherry. Full-bodied, it features Goldilocks ripeness—the fruit is not too ripe and not too crunchy. It's loaded with powdery tannins, and focused acidity drives a long finish streaked with flowers and spice. It's drinking beautifully now and will continue to mature gracefully over the next 10-15 years. (EB)" (10/2023)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2001 Torbreck "The Steading" GSM Barossa Valley (93RP, 91WS). Wine Advocate: "Medium deep garnet with a touch of brick color, the 2001 The Steading is meaty, ripe and rich with really complex aromas of menthol, potpourri, sandalwood, some tobacco and leather. It is a touch sweaty on the palate but not unpleasantly so, and is followed with rich and full flavors, medium levels of grainy tannins, and a long and earthy finish. It is mature now and ready to drink. (LPB)" (02/2013)

Bid on this bottle of 2010 Joseph Phelps "Backus" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (96VN, 93ST). Vinous: "Espresso, mocha, cloves, violets and plums all meld together in the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Backus Vineyard. Rich, sumptuous and layered, the 2010 boasts tons of depth and pure structure. Much more expressive than the 2010 Insignia is today, the Backus is relatively open at this stage. At the same time, though, the underlying structure suggests the 2010 will drink well for many years. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2014 Kongsgaard Napa Valley Chardonnay (97IWR, 96JS, 94RP, 94VN). Int'l Wine Review: "The 2014 Napa Valley Chardonnay is another stunning release from John Kongsgaard, which is made from Wente clones, sourced from the famous Hyde and Hudson vineyards in Carneros. Possessing a rich and golden hue, this wine opens with amazing aromatics of butterscotch, beeswax, poached pear, bananas foster and hints of nutmeg and minerals. The aromatics are absolutely intoxicating, as the bouquet is continually bringing you back for more. On the palate there is remarkable structure and weight, having an oily texture, combined with lovely acidity and bright flavors of lemon oil, white truffle, kumquat, Marzipan and crème brûlée. The range and flavor profile is spellbinding, as it enters the exceedingly long, complex finish. (OB)" (01/2017)
