2024 Odjfell "Armador" Carménère Valle Central

Every so often I am craving a red with savory, vegetal characteristics that you find in grapes with higher pyrazine counts, like Carménère. You can't really find a better value Carménère than this one right here. Being the varietal that put great Chilean wines on the map, the small percentage of Carignan blended in makes for wonderful balance, and this bottle shows inviting purple fruit, a bit of licorice and is punched with that signature peppery flavor element that is sought after in this variety.

2025 Domaine du Vieil Orme Touraine Blanc Sauvignon Blanc

A Sauvignon Blanc that wildly overdelivers for the price--I'm already allured by the intense aromatics of sweet ripe pineapple and a bit of honeydew. If you are in search of a Sauv Blanc that doesn't lend as much grapefruit and green on the nose, this is it. It's no surprise that Domaine du Vieil Orme are known for being meticulous terroirists and admirable stewards of the idyllic "Valley of the Kings" Loire Valley landscapes. Unbelievably balanced, elegant and fresh--grab a handful of these before they are gone for the Summer.

It dazzles in the glass with a brilliant orchid pink color that comes from just a quick kiss of skin contact. An inviting nose of fresh-picked strawberries and raspberries lead into a fresh patch of garden herbs. If you're looking for a red that will work well this Spring and Summer with dining al fresco, barbecue or just sipping on a picnic blanket, winemaker Fernando Mora has delivered this gem of nouveau Spanish style. Lively with lots of red fruit, but with a wonderful tension and food-friendly personality. This is all about terroir and the expression of pure, fresh Garnacha!
