Anonymous Wine Collective Petaluma Gap Chardonnay
2025 Anonymous Wine Collective Petaluma Gap Chardonnay

This brand-new bottling under The Anonymous Wine Collective is just beginning to come into its own. Bottled only a few months ago, it’s really starting to shine! The wine comes from two famous, highly regarded vineyard sites in the Petaluma Gap AVA, part of the broader Sonoma Coast. This is a truly special growing region thanks to the constant cooling breezes that funnel in from the Pacific through a gap in the coastal ranges. That relentless wind plays a fundamental role in producing world-class grapes: it naturally reduces yields and concentrates flavor, slows ripening to build greater complexity while preserving natural acidity, and encourages thicker grape skins that contribute texture and structure to the finished wine. Combine all of that with the region’s rocky volcanic soils, which lend a lively mineral character, and you have the magic of Petaluma Gap. This wine had so much natural flavor and concentration that we decided nine months in mostly neutral French oak was more than enough to frame the fruit. It simply didn’t need any additional “makeup.” The quality of the vineyards and the fruit speak for themselves. The result is a classic coastal California Chardonnay, with beautifully crystalline golden orchard fruit, fresh, stony minerality, vibrant acidity, and subtle, seamlessly integrated oak nuances. Fruit from these vineyards typically goes into single-vineyard-designate wines selling for $60-$80 a bottle. By keeping the source Anonymous, we can bring it to you for just $20. Cheers!

The Doc's Ranch is east-facing 1150-1200ft of elevation, and according to Cobb, it is pummeled with fog. The slope is southeast facing, and Ross uses 50% whole cluster to make this wine—aromas of red flowers and mint, white pepper and wild green strawberries. The palate shows sweet red berries, lightly spiced with notes of white pepper and an elegantly textured mouthfeel. This Pinot dances across the palate with zippy, savoury white pepper and a fresh note of evergreen sap and lithe pine needles lingering on through the finish. (CP)

Anonymous Wine Collective Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
2024 Anonymous Wine Collective Sonoma Coast Chardonnay

This is the second edition of Anonymous that we’ve produced with this incredible, world-renowned winery, and it takes the quality to an entirely new level. I’m proud to say I worked hand in hand with the winemaking team to craft this custom blend from the crème de la crème of single-vineyard components sourced from some of the region’s most sought-after sites. At the core of the wine are three Grand Cru–caliber vineyards, including old Wente clone vines planted in 1974. Most of the fruit comes from the far western edge of the Russian River Valley, where the AVA meets the West Sonoma Coast. The ultra–cool climate, Goldridge soils, and meticulous viticulture ensure that only the finest fruit makes it through the doors of this esteemed estate. The fruit was gently pressed, and the juice was racked to top-quality French oak (30% new), where it fermented with native yeasts and aged on its lees for 15 months. The final blend is composed of 12 carefully selected barrels, chosen not only for their exceptional individual character but also for their seamless integration as a whole. I couldn’t be more proud of this wine. Working with this team is a true joy. With decades of winemaking pedigree and multiple 100-point wines to their credit, this partnership embodies everything the Anonymous Wine Project is about. Under its original label, this wine typically retails for $75–$90. The value delivered through anonymity is simply sensational.

Anonymous Wine Collective "Pagani Ranch - Ancient Vine" Sonoma Valley Zinfandel
2023 Anonymous Wine Collective "Pagani Ranch - Ancient Vine" Sonoma Valley Zinfandel

An absolute classic rendition of Zinfandel this legendary, historic site. There tons of rich, brambly fruit from the old vine Zin, but also real substance and complexity from the inclusion of Alicante Bouchet and a Primitivo clone brought here by Italian immigrants over a century ago. The wine shows a real sense of place with a crushed rock and ferrous mineral tone from red iron-rich loam and volcanic cobblestones that define the soils of the site. The picture perfect growing season in 2023 gave this wine lots of vibrancy and focus to balance all that old vine concentration and potency. The subtle use of both French and American oak is a well known signature when combined with this beautiful fruit. The value here, as with all the Anonymous wines is simply outstanding! Enjoy!

Kistler Sonoma Mountain Chardonnay

The latest release of the Sonoma Mountain Chardonnay from Kistler! Winery Notes: The Kistler plantings on Sonoma Mountain, situated on a hillside bench perfectly suited for growing world class Chardonnay, are interlaced with the rare combination of red volcanic and fine grained chalky soils. The vineyards are planted to California Heritage clones that were selected specifically over the last 30 years to ripen to our balanced wine standards. They are some of the oldest Chardonnay vineyards in Sonoma County. When coupled with the selections in the vineyard the textbook growing conditions afford a wine that is decidedly Sonoma Mountain in character. Annually some of our earliest vineyard pickings each year, this is a wine driven by a grounded, focused mineral core yet lifted by striking ethereal tones of vibrant light fruit raised at elevation.

Sixty-eight percent of the fruit comes from Sonoma and 32% from Napa. It exhibits classic notes of creme de cassis, licorice, cedarwood, incense and a hint of toasty oak in the background. The 2023 Pinot Noir Jack Hill comes from a site in Freestone-Occidental. It’s a proper standout in a range of excellent wines. The 2023 delivers so much concentration and density, yet it comes through without an iota of excess. Lavender, black tea leaves, sage, white pepper and new leather unfurl in a seriously complex, enticing picture. It’s crunchy and lively through the finish, echoing long with a lifted note of orange zest. The Jack Hill is fresh, persistent and laser-focused, not to mention a joy to taste, even in the early going. (BN)

Pangloss "Tenacity" Sonoma Valley Rhône Blend
2022 Pangloss "Tenacity" Sonoma Valley Rhône Blend

Pangloss wines are grown and crafted by the Repris team on Moon Mountain, where steep mountainside vineyards are organically farmed by legendary viticulturist Phil Cotturi. The 2022 Tenacity is a Châteauneuf-du-Pape-inspired Southern Rhône blend of 75% Grenache, 21% Mourvèdre, and 5% Syrah. Winemaker Erich Bradley employs a traditional, minimalist approach to winemaking, with hand-picked and hand-sorted grapes, open-top fermentations, and aging in French oak barrels. The result is a beautifully expressive, mountain-grown Rhône blend that captures the distinctive character of this rugged Sonoma terroir.

The Doc's Ranch is east-facing 1150-1200ft of elevation, and according to Cobb, it is pummeled with fog. The slope is southeast-facing, and Ross uses 50% whole cluster to make this wine; this Pinot includes Calera, Pommard,4 and 114. It shows a gorgeous, incredible violet opening accented by forest floor, pine bough and bright seaspray. The palate carries an intense minerality; white pepper and briny sea spray lift a beautiful core of raspberries and blueberries, with fresh mint brightening the finish. (CP)

The 2023 Zinfandel Pagani Ranch is from a simply gorgeous and truly historic site, made in an elegant, medium-bodied style and blending 79% Zinfandel, 10% Alicante Bouschet, 9% Petite Sirah and 2% Mataro, fermented separately until the final blend. Citrus, orange peel, and honeycomb highlight a complex framework of Old World dustiness and savory delight. Juicy red fruit, light spice, and a gorgeously silky texture continue the theme. This is one to age another 10-15 years. (VB)

Platt "Estate - Reserve" West Sonoma Coast Chardonnay

The 2023 Chardonnay Estate Reserve is magnificent. Tangerine peel, hazelnut, spice, menthol, baked apple tart and pastry are some of the many nuances that open in the glass. The Reserve offers a captivating mix of vibrancy and textural viscosity. Creamy, resonant contours wrap up the plush close. There’s striking richness and mind-blowing overall balance to match a long finish that reverberates for an eternity. The Reserve is a blend of sections within three blocks on the property, planted mostly with variations of older Wente selections that are distinguished by longer hang times. It is one of several wines I have tasted from this part of the West Sonoma Coast that suggests Chardonnay may ultimately hold more potential than Pinot Noir. What a wine!

Peay West Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
2023 Peay West Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
94DC

92VN

The Peay West Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is a true panoramic view of the estate’s terroir and the vintage itself. Sourced mainly from Peay’s estate blocks, with just 5% coming from the slightly warmer Richardson Vineyard next door, this is the winery’s biggest-production Pinot - though at 1,500 cases, it’s still far from mass-produced. The 2023 vintage is a wine with energy and depth, which is classic Peay, delivering a nose that balances delicate florals and bright red berries with a whisper of coastal salinity. The palate is full of tart red fruit like cranberries and pomegranate, with some citrusy mid-palate reminiscent of blood oranges and a pinch of spice for good measure. The structure is firm yet graceful, carrying everything through to a long, truly pleasant finish.

Trois Noix "Kajita Vineyard" Sonoma Valley Rosé of Pinot Noir
2025 Trois Noix "Kajita Vineyard" Sonoma Valley Rosé of Pinot Noir

This project delivers exactly the pale, whisper-pink Provence homage the glass promises. Pinot Noir picked early and pressed straight to salmon-onionskin color, then coaxed into something taut and mineral. Expect wild strawberry, white peach, blood orange rind, and a saline-crushed-stone lift that keeps it honest. Bone-dry, high-toned, and cut with the kind of acidity that makes you reach for the bottle again before you’ve decided to. This is patio wine with a résumé—serious enough for the table, easy enough to drink without thinking. Chill hard, pour into a real glass, and don’t overthink the pairing: oysters, a niçoise, a roast chicken with too much lemon. Drink now through summer; rosé rewards nobody who waits. 2025 closes the book on Trois Noix rosé; the final vintage, and worth stocking your fridge accordingly.
