Reviewed June 2026The 2024 ranks among the best vintages of Leflaive's Bâtard I have tasted. There is a lovely freshness without sacrificing the richness that is the charm of a proper Bâtard. The wine surprises with profuse aromas of ripe pear, acacia flower, chalk and spice; the texture is dense but very fine, bringing impressive persistence to the finish. The wine is completely, convincingly delicious. The difficult 2024 vintage required extensive sorting, but the team did what was necessary to produce a truly memorable result.

This, and the Montrachet, may be the most floral-suffused wines in the range with its combination of carnation, acacia, lilac, rose petal and violet scents that are accentuated by prominent citrus, spice and white-fleshed fruit aromas. The palate impression of the even weightier and more powerful flavors offers a clear step up in power and muscle if not refinement while delivering positively huge length on the compact, youthfully austere and bone-dry finale. In short, this is a stunningly good Bâtard. *Don't miss!*
