Notes
Pianrosso is Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona's 11.69-hectare Sangiovese vineyard, rising from 240 to 360 meters. The estate describes soils rich in Eocene marl and selects grapes from this site for the Pianrosso bottling. Its 2021 is Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, distinct from the estate's separate Santa Caterina d'Oro Riserva. For the 2021 Pianrosso, JebDunnuck.com's review describes a full-bodied wine with velvety tannins, refreshing acidity and a saline character. Kerin O'Keefe likewise emphasizes the balance of power and restraint, with cherry, fine tobacco and a spiced orange-zest close supported by enveloping tannins.
