Reviewed January 2025The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet Hameau de Blagny 1er Cru sports just the right amount of reduction on the nose that does not disguise the terroir. There's energy here. The palate is well balanced and quite intense, with touches of tangerine and passionfruit, but the acidic spine keeps the richness in check. This is a fine Puligny with impressive weight and a sustained finish—but perhaps without the intellectual heft of the top cuvées. (NM)

Pale lemon colour. A slightly greater volume of fruit here, and more volume on the palate, very limestone, chalky texture with white fruit energy through to the back of the palate. Ripe citrus once again.

The succulent, delicious and impressively intense middle weight flavors possess excellent delineation and persistence on the youthfully austere and more complex finale where a similar bead of minerality adds interest.
Notes
Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "Broad, fresh and floral – I love it. Mouth-filling, extra density – perfumed a little like the nose – less open and more dense here – it needs to open out to become really excellent – but the nose already is. The finish slowly fading, hold…" (09/2024)
