Reviewed January 2025The 2023 Pommard Les Epenots 1er Cru is, as usual a blend of "Grand" and "Petit" Epenots. This year, it includes 40% whole bunch. This has a lot of panache on the nose with raspberry, wild strawberry and wilted rose petal scents that blossoms in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, beautifully balanced with a slightly chalky finish. This is an outstanding Pommard from Anne Parent that should age gracefully in bottle.(NM)

Burghound
Note: from 85+ year old vines; 30% whole cluster. A beautifully layered nose features fruit aromas from both side of the spectrum along with plenty of humus-tinged earth. The rich, generous and palate coating medium weight flavors possess impressive power on the very firm, serious and robust finale. This is textbook Chaponnières and built like it.*Burghound Sweet Spot Outstanding!*

Half the vines are 80 years old, half 16 years. The Pommard Chaponnières has been made with 40% whole bunches and 45% new wood. Deep purple in colour. Super-sultry deep raspberry fruit, very classy, swamps the tannins, this will make a gorgeous Pommard in due course. Lovely sumptuous fruit throughout. Drink from 2031-2038. Tasted Nov 2024.
