The 2020 Riesling Schlossberg Grand Cru grows on granite with a little gneiss and benefits from the coolness of the altitude. A touch of green apple and a brighter, lighter citrus shines on the nose. It's beautifully cool, utterly stony, precise and concentrated, yet with the perfume of lemon, green pear and apple. (Bone-dry)(AK)

This is all about its corduroy-like texture at this stage; layers peel off with air. It starts with subtle notes of flint and matchstick, then mixing in fresh quince, nectarine, green pear and lemon-curd flavors, with a long finish. The acidity needs a few years to fully integrate, but this has an admirable potential. (AZ)

Still a bit compacted, this shows both richness and precision, with pronounced lemon and grapefruit flavors that are mouthwatering and rich. Reveals a citrus-edged bitterness that adds nice contrast, while crushed mineral elements impart a chalky texture. Packing a lot of stuffing in a linear frame, this is definitely one for the cellar. Best from 2025 through 2040.
