Reviewed March 2019
You are easily seduced by the 1990 Boca Antonio Cerri especially if you are a lover of aged Piedmont wines and Nebbiolo. The Boca appellation may not be on your radar, but it should be, especially given the performance of these fragile older vintages made in this tiny and relatively untraveled spot in Northern Italy. This wine is infinitely polished and satiny with aromas of white truffle, cola, dried fruit and a touch of candied orange peel. Tertiary tones of leather and smoked jerky add to the intensity of the bouquet. It's hard to know how much longer this wine will last, but it is holding steady for now. (ML)

Notes

Le Piane Boca is a distinctive red wine from the Boca DOC in the northern Piedmont region, made primarily from Nebbiolo and Vespolina grapes. Known for its structure, complexity, and aging potential, this wine offers aromas of red berries, spice, and earthy mineral notes. On the palate, it's medium-bodied with firm tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, balanced finish. The volcanic soils and high-altitude vineyards lend a unique minerality, making this an ideal pairing with roasts, game, or aged cheeses.
