In Stock: New Parcel of 2022s from Jadot - 01/09/2025 - Red Burgundy Thanks to their consistent quality and accessible entry-level pricing, Louis Jadot's wines have become a household name in the United States. While they undoubtedly compete in the realm of daily drinkers, this brand-new 2022 parcel arrival further proves the estate’s competitiveness at the top level of Burgundy as well. Founded in 1859, the domaine now spans 528 acres of meticulously kept vineyards, including 280 acres of the Côte d’Or’s most prestigious Premier and Grand Cru plots. Balancing tradition and technology, Louis Jadot is currently spearheaded by Frédéric Barnier, who works closely with Jacques Lardière. After over 40 years of leadership at Louis Jadot, Lardière has taken a step back to allow the next generation to thrive.
Standing on the strong foundation built by Lardière during his almost 50-year tenure, Barnier has taken the maison to new heights, continuously refining the product through an uncompromising commitment to quality. "Elegant and refined, crisp and detailed, with a harmonious, peachy finish that drags you back for another sip," says Vinous's Neal Martin of their Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Cailleret." In addition, Decanter awarded 96 points to Jadot's 2022 "Les Amoureuses," calling it "A superb wine built for the long haul." Hailing from the famed 0.12-hectare parcel, this cuvée is one of the few where Frédéric Barnier experiments with whole-cluster fermentation, leaving one-third of the bunches intact. A true victory, we look forward with anticipation to this estate's continued successes. If future vintages drink anything like this one, we'll be quite happy.

2022 Louis Jadot Meursault
($89.99)
87-90 points
Burghound:
"Note: many different lieux-dits are included though the two largest are Narvaux and Tillets. Classic Meursault nuances suffuse the nose of acacia blossom, hazelnut, discreet spice elements and a plethora of white fleshed fruit scents. The rich, generous and sappy flavors are also opulent while there is a sufficiently firm acid spine supporting the finish to maintain the balance. Like a number of wines in the range, a few years of keeping should help to add depth." (06/2024) Wine Advocate:
"One of Jadot's more consequential cuvées is the 2022 Meursault Village (Maison Louis Jadot), a medium-bodied, ample and fleshy wine redolent of apple, pear, nutmeg and white flowers. It's a strong effort this year.Winemaker Frédéric Barnier and his team have produced another strong portfolio chez Jadot, with a relatively abundant crop of charming, pure and demonstrative wines, with alcohol back in more normal territory after the highs of 2018, 2019 and 2020. As I've written before, in the cellar, foudres and 500-liter barrels now complement classic 228-liter pièces, a further evolution adapting to warmer, riper vintages. A cold room also helps chill down any fruit that's too warm when it enters the winery. 2022 is also the second vintage of organic conversion for the Domaine Louis Jadot and the Domaine Gagey.(WK)" (01/2024)
2022 Louis Jadot Chassagne-Montrachet
($99.99)
89-91 points
Burghound:
"Note: while it varies from year to year, this blend typically includes a relatively high percentage of 1ers. Enough wood to notice is present on the ripe aromas of mostly petrol, white peach and rosemary oil. The rich, even plush, medium-bodied flavors possess unusually good volume for a villages-level Chassagne while displaying fine length on the youthfully austere bitter zest-inflected finale. Solid quality here for the appellation.*Burghound Outstanding!*" (06/2024) Wine Advocate:
"The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet (Maison Louis Jadot) is a strong performance for this sizable cuvée. Exhibiting aromas of buttered pears, yellow orchard fruit and mirabelle plums, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and seamless, with a satiny, giving profile that will make friends on release.Winemaker Frédéric Barnier and his team have produced another strong portfolio chez Jadot, with a relatively abundant crop of charming, pure and demonstrative wines, with alcohol back in more normal territory after the highs of 2018, 2019 and 2020. "The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Villages has quite a feisty nose that might miss the refinement of Jadot's other Village Crus. The palate is well-balanced, though, with fine acidity and plenty of orchard fruit mixed with subtle peppery notes towards the finish. Straightforward yet well-crafted.(NM)" (01/2024)
2022 Louis Jadot Puligny-Montrachet
($109.99)
89-91 points
Burghound:
"An elegant nose freely reflects aromas of acacia blossom, carnation, crushed anise and just sliced lemon. The rich, caressing and generous middleweight flavors possess a fleshy mouthfeel that contrasts moderately with the firm, clean, dry and youthfully austere finale. This stylish effort could use better depth so at least some patience is advised.*Burghound Outstanding!*" (06/2024) 89-91 points
Vinous:
"The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Villages has a very capable nose, offering more complexity than its Chassagne counterpart, slightly more malic in style, with a sense of energy. The palate is fresh on the entry, well-balanced with plenty of fruit: tangerine, hints of green apple and allspice. It fans out nicely on the finish. Very fine.(NM)" (01/2024) Wine Advocate:
"Aromas of white peach, flowers, mint and freshly baked bread preface the 2022 Puligny-Montrachet (Maison Louis Jadot), a medium-bodied, fine-boned and elegant white that's bright and pretty this year, with a touch less depth and guts than readers will find in the house's Chassagne-Montrachet and Meursault bottlings.Winemaker Frédéric Barnier and his team have produced another strong portfolio chez Jadot, with a relatively abundant crop of charming, pure and demonstrative wines, with alcohol back in more normal territory after the highs of 2018, 2019 and 2020. 2022 Domaine Louis Jadot Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Morgeot"
($129.99)
92-95 points
Jasper Morris:
"A blend of Abbaye de Morgeot and Francemont. Medium deep yellow. The nose is a little biscuity and a little backward. Then there is surprising weight, largely yellow plum fruit, very good fruit/acid integration, and fair length. This wine does indeed show the power of the Morgeot terroir. Drink from 2030-2038. Tasted Oct 2023." (01/2024) 91-93 points
Wine Advocate:
"Rich but tightly wound, the 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot (Domaine Louis Jadot) opens in the glass with aromas of peach and orange oil mingled with white flowers and hazelnuts. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless, with a layered core of fruit girdled by racy acids, it has turned out nicely.Winemaker Frédéric Barnier and his team have produced another strong portfolio chez Jadot, with a relatively abundant crop of charming, pure and demonstrative wines, with alcohol back in more normal territory after the highs of 2018, 2019 and 2020. ($129.99)
2022 Domaine Louis Jadot Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Cailleret"
($139.99)
92-94 points
Vinous:
"The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Caillerets 1er Cru has a very endearing bouquet, the best of Jadot's Chassagne cuvées, yellow plum and custard cremes, orange pith and a touch of blackcurrant leaf. The palate is certainly the most elegant and refined, crisp and detailed, with a harmonious, peachy finish dragging you back for another sip. Excellent.(NM)" (01/2024) 91-93 points
Wine Advocate:
"The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Cailleret (Maison Louis Jadot) is layered and giving, bursting with aromas of citrus oil, hazelnuts, buttery pastry and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and charming, with succulent acids and a saline finish, this will show well young.Winemaker Frédéric Barnier and his team have produced another strong portfolio chez Jadot, with a relatively abundant crop of charming, pure and demonstrative wines, with alcohol back in more normal territory after the highs of 2018, 2019 and 2020. 2022 Domaine Louis Jadot Santenay Rouge "Clos de Malte"
($44.99)
92 points
Decanter:
"Jadot's large holding at the upper reaches of Santenay dates to the 19th century the land was purchased by the Gagey family, who later sold it but re-purchased most of it in the '90s. Today, Jadot farms seven hectares in the lieu-dit Sous la Fée, which they label Clos de Malte. This village-level Santenay, most of it planted to Pinot Noir, corresponds to the archetype of Santenay slightly rugged, almost rustic, with a plum and currant fruit, firm tannins and a slight austerity. Give this a year or two to open and drink over the next 10.(CC)" (11/2023) 88-90 points
Jasper Morris:
"The Clos de Malte has a lively ruby ??color. The nose is an immediate delight of fresh red fruit, a bit of cherry. Firm structure, acidity, tannins and a little nuttiness, all of which will resolve reasonably quickly in bottle, leaving this entirely delicious fruit to enjoy. Drink from 2026-2030. Tasted Oct 2023." (01/2024) 88-90 points
Wine Advocate:
"The 2022 Santenay Clos de Malte (Domaine Louis Jadot) bursts with aromas of cherries, spices, petals and smoke, followed by a medium-bodied, bright and tangy palate that's fine-boned and mineral this year.Winemaker Frédéric Barnier and his team have produced another strong portfolio chez Jadot, with a relatively abundant crop of charming, pure and demonstrative wines, with alcohol back in more normal territory after the highs of 2018, 2019 and 2020. "The 2022 Santenay Clos de Malte has quite a perfumed bouquet - macerated red cherries and crushed strawberries to the fore. Juicy. The palate is medium-bodied with soft tannins. Its quite a fleshy Santenay that needs a little more backbone and grip, though it provides satisfying length.(NM)" (01/2024)
2022 Louis Jadot (Domaine Gagey) Marsannay "Clos du Roy"
($49.99)
90-93 points
Burghound:
"An airy, cool and pretty nose offers up a variety of floral elements that add elegance to the mostly red berry fruit aromas. The middleweight flavors possess a refined texture along with ample punch on the austere, serious and sneaky long finish that exhibits an almost driving minerality. This is excellent but definitely fashioned in a built-to-age style.*Burghound Outstanding Top Value!*" (01/2024) 89-91 points
Wine Advocate:
"The 2022 Marsannay Clos du Roy (Domaine Gagey) bursts with aromas of spicy cherries and smoke, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and seamless palate that's animated by tangy acids. It will drink well out of the gates.Winemaker Frédéric Barnier and his team have produced another strong portfolio chez Jadot, with a relatively abundant crop of charming, pure and demonstrative wines, with alcohol back in more normal territory after the highs of 2018, 2019 and 2020. Vinous:
"The 2022 Marsannay Clos du Roy is one of the most backward reds from Jadot in barrel, but I managed to eke out some attractive raspberry, crushed strawberry and sous-bois aromas that look promising. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, well-judged acidity and a surprisingly dense finish just needing to forage a little more mineralité. Good potential, but it will require 3 or 4 years in bottle.(NM)" (01/2024)
2022 Domaine Louis Jadot Côte de Nuits-Villages "Le Vaucrain"
Price: Hidden
89-91 points
Jasper Morris:
"Frédéric Barnier notes that Le Vaucrain is a really balanced vineyard up and down the slope, the interplay of soil and rock, and with good water sources. The 2022 has a bright red fruit, fresh and immediate, plenty of energy, gaining in concentration through the middle, with an agreeable mineral quality to finish. Plenty of fruit to return behind. Drink from 2027-2034. Tasted Oct 2023." (01/2024) 89-91 points
Wine Advocate:
"The 2022 Côte de Nuits-Villages Le Vaucrain (Domaine Louis Jadot) is as ever one of the smarter purchases in the range, delivering notes of cherries and plums mingled with petals and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple and suave palate that's pure, lively and precise.Winemaker Frédéric Barnier and his team have produced another strong portfolio chez Jadot, with a relatively abundant crop of charming, pure and demonstrative wines, with alcohol back in more normal territory after the highs of 2018, 2019 and 2020. "The 2022 Côte de Nuits Villages Vaucrain has a lucid ruby hue. Quite a "punchy" nose with forthright redcurrant and cranberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy red fruit, rounded in texture with a smooth finish. I liked the 2021 last yearI like this too, and it undoubtedly will cost you less than, say, a bottle of Leroy.(NM)" (01/2024) Burghound:
"This is also moderately toasty with its spicy purple fruit coulis and earth nuances. The delicious, vibrant and fleshy, if not especially dense, are plump but not soft while concluding in a sneaky long bitter pit fruit-inflected finish that would also benefit from developing better depth." (01/2024)
2022 Domaine Louis Jadot (Domaine des Heritièrs) Beaune 1er Cru "Theurons"
($69.99)
94 points
Wine Spectator:
"This is pure and well-delineated, offering cherry, strawberry, rose, stone and spice aromas and flavors. The solid structure keeps a strong grip on the finish for now. Offers precision balance and superb length. Best from 2028 through 2043.B.S." (03/2025) 90-92 points
Wine Advocate:
"The 2022 Beaune 1er Cru Les Theurons (Domaine Gagey) bursts with aromas of plums, orange zest, petals and spices. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and charming, with powdery tannins and a saline finish, this will offer a broad drinking window.Winemaker Frédéric Barnier and his team have produced another strong portfolio chez Jadot, with a relatively abundant crop of charming, pure and demonstrative wines, with alcohol back in more normal territory after the highs of 2018, 2019 and 2020. Burghound:
"A toasty and smoky nose freely reveals its aromas of black cherry, plum, violet and discreet earth wisps. The vibrant, delicious and attractively textured, if not especially dense, medium weight flavors possess a lovely sense of refinement while delivering fine length on the moderately austere bitter pit fruit-inflected finish. This firm effort will need to develop better depth to merit the upper end of my projected range." (04/2024) 89-91 points
Jasper Morris:
"An attractive fresh mid purple. I am not finding much on the nose at first, just a nutty note mixed in with the fruit perhaps. The Theeuros is well balanced on the palate, a medium density of fruit, rather more structure behind. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted Oct 2023." (01/2024)

Wine Spectator:
"This red offers the weight and feel of a grand cru, featuring floral, cherry, strawberry, sandalwood and vanilla aromas and flavors. Builds in intensity, with a silky feel, superb energy and presence midpalate. Complex and expansive on the superlong, mineral-infused aftertaste, this seems to be holding back today, so be patient. Best from 2029 through 2049. From France. B.S." (04/2025) 96 points
Decanter:
"Jadot's Chambolle Amoureuses is produced from the plot of 0.12 hectares acquired from the Clair-Daü estate in 1985. It is located on the Comblanchien limestone terrace before the climat drops more steeply toward the stream of the Vouge. This cuvée is one of the few where technical director Frédéric Barnier experiments with whole cluster fermentation, leaving one-third of the bunches intact, producing a silky, dense wine with a spicy blackberry fruit aroma and impressive length. This superb wine is built for the long haul, but it should be accessible young as well.(CC)" (01/2024) 93-95 points
Wine Advocate:
"There are two and a half barrels of the 2022 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses (Domaine Louis Jadot), the most perfumed wine in the cellar, bursting with notes of orange zest, peonies, exotic spices, cherries and raspberries. Medium to full-bodied, pure and suave, it's lively and mineral, with a rich core of fruit and a long, aromatic finish.Winemaker Frédéric Barnier and his team have produced another strong portfolio chez Jadot, with a relatively abundant crop of charming, pure and demonstrative wines, with alcohol back in more normal territory after the highs of 2018, 2019 and 2020. A cold room also helps chill down any fruit that's too warm when it enters the winery. 2022 is also the second vintage of organic conversion for the Domaine Louis Jadot and the Domaine Gagey.(WK)" (01/2024) 93-95 points
Vinous:
"The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru showed more reduction on the nose compared to the Bonnes-Mares: brambly red fruit, Earl Grey, and light forest floor aromas blossom in the glass. Fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with plush tannins, velvety smooth with maraschino cherries, marmalade and touches of fresh fig. This is quite exotic towards the finish. By direct comparison, the aforementioned Grand Cru has a little more composure and restraint and perhaps handled the warmth of the growing season better. Still, it's a lovely Amoureuses.(NM)" (01/2024) 93-95 points
Burghound:
"Note: from a small .12 ha parcel. This is also ultra-floral in character with more spice and exotic tea nuances to the black pinot fruit coulis scents. The mouthfeel of noticeably more refined middleweight flavors is both succulent and velvety while exuding an almost aggressive minerality on the youthfully austere, compact and quite serious finish that deliver superb length. Like the Clos St. Denis, this is very classy juice.*Burghound Sweet Spot Outstanding!*" (04/2024) |
