Cascahuin "Tahona" Blanco Tequila (750ml)
Cascahuin "Tahona" Blanco Tequila (750ml)

Cascahuin has been one of my favorite producers in tequila since I first sipped tasted their entry level offerings years ago. Their traditional process creates spirits leaps and bounds ahead of most competitors in terms of quality and flavor. Effortlessly balanced and expressive, this entirely tahona-pressed bottling in particular exhibits everything that most blanco tequilas aspire to be. Rustic aromas of dusty herbs and dry earth instantly evoke the region from which this hails. The taste is unbelievably refined, with pure agave sweetness taking center stage, supported by fresh white pepper and chamomile. The finish shows darker fruit tones and a satisfying earthy counterpoint to the ethereal flavors up front. A lingering hint of roasted meat makes this endlessly satisfying to drink. Purists should always have this on the shelf, and those looking to take a step up in the category should look no further.

G4 "Premium" Blanco Tequila
G4 "Premium" Blanco Tequila

The famed G4 Tequila brand is the house brand of the exceptional El Pandillo Distillery in Jesus Maria. Refering to 4 generations of Tequila producers it was the first brand of Felipe Camerena when he left the family's famous distillery La Altena in 2007. Founded in 2011, he created a technologically advanced, sustainable, green distillery that still adheres to tradition in many terms of the production methods. Still crushed under physical pressure on his revolutionary adapted tahona affectionately named "Frankenstein" is an adapted steamroller that can crush agave with the same qualities as a traditional stone tahona, but uses a simple 1 horse power electrical motor. Felipe's many high quality brands are mainly distinguished by the water used for fermentation and the G4 brand uses both rain water and spring water giving it an incredibly refreshing and complex character. All of his tequilas are certified additive free and the distillery is ranked No. 2 on Tequila Matchmaker's coveted Top Tequila Distillery rankings. Only a handful of distillers in Jalisco can match the incredible G4 From the producer: "The purest expression of Blue Weber agave, our Blanco is authentic and approachable with a delicate minerality and gentle aroma derived from agave and spring water from our own farm, collected rainwater, and our Grandfather’s yeast. These are the only ingredients in G4. Clear, crisp flavors and a silky texture make it a hit with tequila lovers across the board."

Fuenteseca "Cosecha - Huerta Singular - Las Antenas" Blanco Tequila (750ml)
2018 Fuenteseca "Cosecha - Huerta Singular - Las Antenas" Blanco Tequila (750ml)

The follow-up to the unbelievable first batch of Huerta Singular, the Las Antenas highlights a completely different terroir with the same goal of creating a completely unique example of blanco tequila. The overripe pinto Blue Weber agave for this batch was grown entirely in the mineral-laden caliche soils of Vista Hermosa in Michoacán. The ground is rich in calcium carbonate at the high elevation field. At just over 5,000 feet in elevation, the agave was left to ripen in the field after the quixote was cut, resulting in an ultra-ripe "pinto" or painted agave as the pencas discolor as the plant concentrates sugars in the piña. The resulting spirit is one of the most unique expressions of tequila we've ever stocked. Bold mineral character is coupled with tangy citrus peel and vibrant fresh herbs. A truly legendary addition to the Single Huerta line, which seeks to capture the flavors of one single field in the bottle. Distilled in 2018 and rested for two years before bottling at 44.8%.

G4 "de Madera" Blanco Tequila
G4 "de Madera" Blanco Tequila

Without a doubt the El Pandillo Distillery sits at the pinnacle of Tequila production among a small pantheon of great producers. This core group of 6 to 7 distillers in the region aren't the only people making good to tequila, but they're the only distillers I can guarantee only make GREAT tequila and furthermore aren't using the controversial additives that have become ubiquitous in modern tequila production. I know for a fact that none of the greatest of the great distillers ever use additives in any product they bottle. But El Pandillo is particularly special in that their owner and master distillery Felipe Camarena is so experienced and confident, he's not held back by his ego in the pursuit of great tequila. His distillery was already producing some of the regions finest distillate, so why go and change the recipe? Simply put, there are new frontiers to concur. Fermenting in wood, the most traditional and expensive, offers huge hurdles and costs, but it also has the capability to add incredible depth and richness. That is exactly what they've achieved with this exceptional limited release product. Bottled at higher proof and without any additives, G4 achieves a new level of complexity that very few other producers can match, even among the pantheon of greats. The rich powerful aromas of tropical fruit and sweet earthy herbs contrast and impeccable sense of tension on the palate which keeps the vibrant spirit from feeling overly weighty. If you're a diehard Fortaleza fan but are frustrated with the incredibly difficulty it takes to track down a bottle, you'll more than satiated with this stupendous expression. This is contender for the very best Blanco tequila available today, but these yearly releases go surprisingly quick. I'm stocking up for the coming warm months now.

Cimarron Blanco Tequila (1L)
Cimarron Blanco Tequila (1L)

From the distillery of Enrique Fonseca, the man behind the legendary K&L Fuenteseca, comes this value-priced, liter-sized tequila that seems almost too good to be true. We may not sell the amount of Cimmarron that we should, simply because people still wonder why it's so cheap. Don't let the price tag sway you: this is clean, fresh, easy-drinking tequila made from 100% agave that is definitely up to Enrique's high standards. This blanco is cleaner and lighter than the Pura Sangre blanco (also from Enrique) and mixes into Palomas like a breeze. You'll be buying this by the case before you know it. Beverage Testing Institute: "Clear color. Aromas and flavors of lavender, lemon balm, cologne, melon rind, and vanilla candle with a supple, crisp, dryish light body and a hot, breezy finish revealing elements of lime leaf and starfruit finish. A solid tequila for mixed drinks." *Highly Recommended* and *Silver Medal* (04/2019)

Zumbador Blanco Tequila
Zumbador Blanco Tequila

At nearly 7,000 feet in the red soils of Los Altos, maestro tequilero Roberto López tends 1,000 acres of estate agave—a rare level of ownership and control in modern tequila. Nephew to Felipe and Carlos Camarena of Ocho and G4 fame, Roberto carves his own path at El Sabino Distillery, where agave is harvested at 5½ years and roasted in traditional masonry ovens. After slow cooking, the piñas are tahona-crushed, then fermented naturally in both wood and stainless steel before distillation in a hybrid of stainless and copper pot stills. The Blanco is bottled at 40% ABV without additives, delivering the true essence of highland agave with a balance of floral lift, citrus brightness, and gentle minerality framed by a clean sweetness. Free of celebrity hype and bloated pricing, Zumbador is built to show what honest tequila tastes like, and with the hummingbird—symbol of endurance—as its totem, this Blanco offers purity, elegance, and authenticity at an everyday price .

Manuscrito "Chapter One" Single Estate Blanco Tequila (750ml)
Manuscrito "Chapter One" Single Estate Blanco Tequila (750ml)

The exceptional new Manuscrito may be the most exciting brand to emerge from Mexico in years, but it is not the beautifully curated presentation that defines this tequila, it is the remarkable liquid inside. Produced in the Highlands at the new El Sabino distillery, Manuscrito is already turning heads. In a very short time, El Sabino has climbed to #4 on Tequila Matchmaker’s Top 100 distilleries, just behind Fortaleza, Cascahuín, and El Pandillo. That may seem trivial to outsiders, but the top tier has remained largely unchanged for years, making this rapid ascent incredibly significant. A handful of new producers are now challenging the old guard, and they are doing it with serious quality at very fair prices. The formula is simple in theory but rare in execution: secure fully mature agave at the right moment, invest in a thoughtfully designed distillery, and refuse to cut corners. While some traditionalists may note the absence of tahona extraction, the results speak for themselves. This is one of the finest tequilas available at any price today. The single estate blanco opens with a subtle nose of roasted pumpkin, citrus zest, minerality, and underripe mango. With air, it expands beautifully, revealing deeper notes of sweet cooked agave, hibiscus, honeysuckle, buttercream, dried fruit, and earthy spice. The palate mirrors the nose, delivering roasted fruit, bright citrus, and a rich, creamy texture in perfect balance. The finish is long and satisfying, with a spicy mineral depth more often associated with the best Lowland examples. An impeccable and genuinely exciting release that proves even the newest producers can achieve greatness with the right raw materials and uncompromising intent.

AD Tahona Reserva Artesenal Blanco Tequila (750ml)
AD Tahona Reserva Artesenal Blanco Tequila (750ml)

AD is an extremely unusual project from some of Mexico's finest distillers, artists and restaurateurs. The idea originated from the wild mind of Javier "El Impostor" Rodriguez, a legend, and artists in Guadalajara. He's built a reputation across the tequila, mezcal, and raicilla industry as a champion for the finest traditional Mexican spirits. His innovative spirit exemplifies the modern Mexican identity and has attracted countless luminaries to his side through his compassion, art and food. Now he's partnered with inarguably one of the finest distillers in the world, Cascahuin, to create this unique expression of the great spirit of Jalisco. It begins with full mature agave harvest in both the high and lowlands measuring an exceptionally high 33 and 37 brix, respectively. Roasted slowly in their traditional brix ovens and crushed with Tahona, it's fermented in pine vats with the bagasse included. Double distilled to a low proof of 47% and rested for 3 months in stainless vats, the resulting spirit is full of deep vegetal and roasted fruit character. Bottled at 44%. AD Tequila rests safely in a new cadre of exceptional and intentionally produced small batch spirits from the outrageously good distillery.

G4 "Clasico - Limited Edition" Blanco Tequila
G4 "Clasico - Limited Edition" Blanco Tequila

Felipe Camarena honors his roots with the G4 Blanco Clásico, a limited throwback release that nods to the earliest days of the brand. This vintage-inspired bottling combines 90 percent of G4’s signature Blanco with 10 percent fiber-fermented tequila, adding an extra layer of complexity and authenticity. The agave used for this release comes from fully mature, 8-year-old Blue Weber plants, bringing a level of sweetness and depth that recalls the sought-after “XM” edition. Everything about this tequila reflects Camarena’s uncompromising standards. It is crafted at El Pandillo using stone ovens, mechanical tahona extraction, a 50-50 mix of spring and rainwater, open-air fermentation, and double distillation in copper pot stills. The small addition of fiber-fermented juice contributes vegetal tones, savory depth, and textural nuance to an already polished base. The bottle features a faithful reprint of G4’s original 2012 label, marking a return to tradition and a celebration of four generations of agave mastery. With only 2,016 cases produced, it is both a collectible and a standout sipper. Whether enjoyed neat or in an elevated cocktail, this release reaffirms G4’s place among Mexico’s finest artisanal tequilas.

Manuscrito "Chapter Two" Single Estate High Proof Blanco Tequila (750ml)
Manuscrito "Chapter Two" Single Estate High Proof Blanco Tequila (750ml)

The exceptional new Manuscrito may be the most exciting brand to emerge from Mexico in years, but it is not the beautifully curated presentation that defines this tequila, it is the remarkable liquid inside. Produced in the Highlands at the new El Sabino distillery, Manuscrito is already turning heads. In a very short time, El Sabino has climbed into the upper echelon of Tequila Matchmaker’s rankings, just behind icons like Fortaleza, Cascahuín, and El Pandillo. Chapter Two takes everything that made the original release compelling and dials it up with a high proof bottling at 51.55% ABV, amplifying both structure and intensity. The nose is immediately more assertive, driven by bold cooked agave framed by bell pepper, earthy vegetal tones, and a lifted citrus edge with hints of white pepper and baking spice. On the palate, the texture is richer and more forceful, with sweet agave at the core wrapped in black pepper, cinnamon, and layered vegetal complexity, while citrus and subtle lactic creaminess add lift and balance. There’s a distinctly structured, almost tannic grip here, likely from fermentation with fibers, giving the tequila a serious, mouth-coating presence. The finish is long, spicy, and mineral-driven, with lingering notes of cinnamon, pepper, and earthy citrus that seem to echo endlessly. A powerful and uncompromising expression that shows exactly what this new distillery is capable of when pushed to the limit, Chapter Two feels like a clear step forward and a sign they are just getting started.

Casco Viejo Blanco Tequila (1L)
Casco Viejo Blanco Tequila (1L)

To make a long story short, not only is this is the best blanco tequila under $30, but it also outperforms most brands at twice the price or more. The long version involves going back to the beginning of tequila as a regional style of spirit. Jose Cuervo was the first major tequila producer in the middle of the 18th century, and at the time, most of the agave was coming from the lower lying regions now known as El Valle. One hundred years later, the valley was saturated with agave fields owned by large companies, so producers trying to enter the market were increasingly looking to plant agave in the previously undeveloped mountain areas. The Camarena family began doing so in the 1880's, ultimately leading to building their distilleries and the brands we see today. El Tesoro de Don Felipe and G4 are headed by two Camarena brothers who struck out to build their own tequila brands, while the main family estate makes Casco Viejo, and they do it in the most traditional style you'll find at an everyday price point. Roasted in brick ovens rather than high-pressure steam vats, fermented over the course of days and weeks rather than hours, and bottled without the use of chemical additives, this is pure and authentic tequila. As we typically get from the highland style, the flavor cooked agave comes accented with lifted citrus and subtle floral tones. A hint of pepper and dried mountain herbs brings some savory influence, and the finish is clean and refreshing. It hits all the right notes. Not just margarita fodder, it's unbelievably enjoyable to sip neat, even more-so to serve as ranch water. When the cost of everything coming from Jalisco is only increasing, treat yourself to something that turns back time, delivering historic quality at a long-forgotten price point.

Celaya Blanco Tequila (750ml)

Celaya is one of those rare celebrity-adjacent spirits projects that actually has the bones to matter. Founded by former NFL brothers Ryan and Matt Kalil, the brand reaches back to their family story and Jose Celaya, who the family says made tequila on his ranch in Sonora in the late 1800s. The Blanco is the cleanest window into the project: 100% agave, certified additive free, made from a proprietary blend of Highland and Lowland tequilas, and produced at Casa Maestri, NOM 1438. That blend is the key, bringing together the lifted, citrusy snap we love from the Highlands with the earthy structure and mineral depth associated with the Lowlands. Bottled soon after distillation, this is agave-forward, crisp, and immediately useful, but it has far more texture and character than the usual lifestyle-brand tequila. There’s no candy-shop gloss, no vanilla syrup trickery, no manipulated sweetness. Just bright agave, citrus peel, peppery spice, and a clean, confident finish. Add in Celaya’s pledge to donate $1 per bottle to affordable housing for agave farmers and distillery workers in Jalisco, and you have a brand with both purpose and real liquid credibility.

2020 Fuenteseca Huerta Singular "La Tuna De Arriba" Blanco Tequila (750ml)

Fuenteseca Cosecha is one of the most transparent and compelling expressions of vintage tequila on the market, capturing not merely a production method but a specific harvest, place and moment in time. Maestro Destilador Enrique Fonseca distilled this 2020 release at Tequileña (NOM 1146) from 100% Pinto Azul, a distinctive subtype of Blue Weber agave marked by dark spotting on its pencas. The agaves were cultivated at elevations exceeding 6,700 feet in San Ignacio Cerro Gordo, where the cool climate and iron-rich volcanic sandy loam encourage slow maturation and remarkable aromatic complexity. After a six-hour pre-cook, the agaves were cooked for 24 hours in a low-pressure autoclave, rested for six additional hours, and crushed with screw and roller mills. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks with deep well water and proprietary yeast, followed by double distillation in copper alembic pot stills. The tequila was then rested in stainless steel before bottling at a beautifully expressive 45.7% ABV. Entirely additive free, this is an exceptionally pure, precise and deeply evocative blanco, with delicate florality, gentle natural sweetness and a vivid sense of its extraordinary highland origin.

Tierra De Ensueño Barrel Rested Blanco Tequila (750ml)

Produced from fully mature 100% blue agave on a family-owned Highland estate and bottled at a robust 42% ABV, this is a small batch tequila built on authenticity rather than manipulation. Even more interesting, the blanco sees a brief barrel rest of less than 60 days, just enough to soften the edges without obscuring the agave’s natural voice. What immediately stands out is the purity and lift. The nose is bright and expressive, loaded with fresh agave, citrus, and a subtle herbal sweetness. On the palate, it’s clean and energetic, balancing sweet cooked agave with pepper, light florals, and a gentle roundness from that short rest. The texture is silky but precise, finishing crisp with lingering agave sweetness and spice. This is exactly what modern blanco should be: vibrant, honest, and endlessly drinkable, with just enough polish to make it feel complete.

A proprietary yeast blend—80% wild, 20% French champagne—is coaxed to life under classical music, a technique lovingly dubbed the “Mozart method.” Twice distilled in small copper pot stills with a sharp focus on hearts cuts, it is bottled unfiltered by hand at the source and proofed with iron-rich volcanic well water. Packaging underscores the brand’s environmental commitment—100% recycled Mexican glass, agave-fiber labels, repurposed corks, and recycled cardboard from local suppliers. This small-batch, additive-free spirit is crafted from hand-selected Weber Blue Agaves grown in the rich soils of Amatitán. The piñas are cooked slowly in a singular clay brick oven, ensuring even caramelization and maximum sugar extraction before undergoing a two-stage crust -first by roller mill, then by traditional Tahona stone. Fermentation takes place in open air with agave fibers present, adding texture and depth. The must is distilled twice, first in a stainless steel pot still, then in copper, yielding a spirit of exceptional purity and character. With no shortcuts or additives, this Blanco is a showcase of terroir and tradition, offering a vibrant, complex, and authentically expressive tequila that stands as the benchmark of how agave spirit was meant to be experienced .

Volans Ultra Premium Blanco Tequila (750ml)
Volans Ultra Premium Blanco Tequila (750ml)

This estate grown tequila from the master at El Pandillo Distillery, Felipe Camerena, is poised to become one of the leaders in this ever-growing category. Made from just three ingredients: blue weber agave, water, and natural yeast, Volans never alters their tequila in anyway. Felipe is one of the highlands' preeminent distillers. His exceptional distillery, El Pandillo, is always offering top quality, and Volans flies above the rest. The agave are cooked for 22 hours traditional brick ovens before being crushed on a linear, electrically driven tahona, specially designed by Felipe. A mixture of three water sources gives Volans its unique character: a rich mineral spring water, a highly mineral well water, and an alkaline rainwater collected at the distillery. Fermented in open steel tanks with no agave fibers, with the Camerena family yeast that has been cultivated naturally for decades. It's then distilled twice on small copper pots, with the heads included and the tails removed. The reposado is an assemblage of tequilas rested in ex-bourbon barrels for up to 11 months. The blanco is vibrant and nuanced offering distinctive citrus and floral aromas coupled with rich herbal and cooked agave flavors.
