Saxum "4hearts Vineyard" Paso Robles Red Blend
2021 Saxum "4hearts Vineyard" Paso Robles Red Blend

Bid on this bottle of 2021 Saxum "4hearts Vineyard" Paso Robles Red Blend (98JD, 94DC, 94RP, 94WS). Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2021 Four Hearts Vineyard is another flat-out awesome 2021 that readers will love. Based on 46% Petite Sirah, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Zinfandel, it sports a saturated purple hue to go with exotic notes of cassis, green tobacco, sandalwood, baking spices, and incense. It’s clearly the finest vintage of this cuvée to date, and this full-bodied, incredibly pure, layered, flawlessly balanced red can be drunk today with incredible pleasure or cellared for upwards of 10-15 years, depending on your preferences. The tannin quality here is off the charts." (08/2023)

Turley "Hayne Vineyard" Napa Valley Petite Syrah (Limited Library Release)
2009 Turley "Hayne Vineyard" Napa Valley Petite Syrah (Limited Library Release)

It was difficult to chose a favorite although the 2009 Petite Syrah Rattlesnake Ridge, Hayne Vineyard and Library Vineyard are the three greatest in terms of concentration, depth and potential complexity. As I have said so many times, Petite Sirah is by far the most underrated varietal in California, so it is reassuring to see how many producers continue to make remarkable wines with around 13-14% alcohol as well as 20-40+ years of aging potential. Powerful, even a bit tough, with an initial blueberry flavor that was joined by cherry syrup as the wine opened in the glass. A youthfully medicinal wine that finishes with huge tannins and pronounced acidity. Like the Syrah, this will need time in bottle. This Petite Sirah, from fruit purchased from Switchback Ridge, will be the last vintage of this wine under the Pride label. (ST) 90+" (05/2006)
