Found North "Season 6 - Cherry Liqueur Finish #6138" Exclusive Single Barrel Cask Strength Canadian Whisky (750ml)
Found North "Season 6 - Cherry Liqueur Finish #6138" Exclusive Single Barrel Cask Strength Canadian Whisky (750ml)

For the record this is Batch 6 Cask 6138 A combo of 12Yr Rye, 21 Yr Rye, 15Yr Corn, 17 Yr Corn, 22 Yr Corn and 25Yr Corn – this makes the composition 49% Rye, 48% Corn and 3% Barley. Among all the brands that we actively follow right now, Found North is one of our favorites. We have been fans for a long time and when the opportunity presented itself to us to obtain a barrel, we were excited to say the least. Immediately this cask spoke to us – at least on paper – a cherry liqueur finished product could have easily been aged too long. Upon sampling, we were all very surprised at how subtle the liqueur showed. We equated this whisky to a Manhattan but only in the best – least cocktail like way. More as if you poured a shot of whisky into a glass that previously served a Manhattan – again subtle.

Found North "Fog City Social" Private Blend Canadian Whisky
Found North "Fog City Social" Private Blend Canadian Whisky

A private blend for the Fog City Social encompassing Sauternes and New American Oak as finishing casks across 4 unique components ranging from 11- 22 years in age. The Sauternes casks bolster elements of the rye component's natural herbaceousness through flavors of eucalyptus, dried mint, and rosemary, while naturally complementing the rich, dense corn components' ripe honeydew melon, candied ginger, and sweet lemon meringue. New American Oak casks provide a backbone of vanilla, coconut cake, and shortbread, balancing the blend's fruit forwardness. Only 120 bottles were produced.

Found North "Season 6 - Madeira Finish #6131" K&L Exclusive Single Barrel Cask Strength Canadian Whisky
Found North "Season 6 - Madeira Finish #6131" K&L Exclusive Single Barrel Cask Strength Canadian Whisky

If you’re not yet familiar with Found North, allow me to be the first to tell you that this brand is probably the most exciting new bottler in years. The Taylor brothers, who founded the company, seem to have cracked some sort of whisky cheat code. What they’ve proven is that mature whisky doesn’t need to spend its entire life in fresh wood to be complete. If you take well-aged whisky, blend it skillfully, and finish it thoughtfully, you can create something far greater than the sum of its parts. Of course, it’s not that simple -you need great whisky and great wood from the start. Blending is a huge factor as well, but it’s clear these guys are overachievers on both fronts. We’ve never had a Found North release that didn’t overdeliver, and these two new barrels are no exception. Let’s start with the Madeira Cask Finish. This one isn’t rye- or corn-heavy; instead, it perfectly balances its aromatic and palate-driven elements. The color is a lovely russet (1.3). The nose is explosive, offering baked orchard fruit, exotic spice, tense earthy oak, candied apricot, gravel, and caramel candies. On the palate, it’s dusty and old-school with loads of rye spice and earthy warehouse floor. With some air, the nose opens beautifully to sweet peach tea, fig jam, pink peppercorn, and wet cement. The palate stays bold, spicy, and earthy, while adding layers of sweet oak and candied corn. A tremendous and surprising whisky that fits into no box—and doesn’t need to. It’s simply delicious.

Caribou Crossing Single Barrel Canadian Whisky
Caribou Crossing Single Barrel Canadian Whisky

Bid on this bottle of Caribou Crossing Single Barrel Canadian Whisky, a five-star pick from respected Canadian whisky critic Davin de Kergommeaux and one of the very best barrels drawn from the Sazerac Company’s stock of over 200,000 barrels aging in Canada. Its source distillery remains a mystery, though many suspect the well-regarded Alberta Distillery. Davin de Kergommeaux writes: “Nose: Rich rye spices, vanilla, and butterscotch with lots of dark fruit. Stewed prunes and a hint of spirit. Elements of Cognac. Palate: Soft, creamy corn, with prunes, spice, and citric pith... What starts out as a ‘nice’ palate becomes more and more interesting as pleasing tannins, peppery spices, and ripe red fruits slowly emerge from the vanilla creaminess.”

Canadian Club 43 Year Old "Chronicles Issue #3: The Speakeasy" Canadian Whisky

Bid on this bottle of Canadian Club 43 Year Old "Chronicles Issue #3: The Speakeasy" Canadian Whisky (95WA). Whisky Advocate: "The third in the Chronicles series offers a slightly closed nose that soon shows high esters, cinnamon, and eggnog, while hints of mint hide among old dry barn boards in a gorgeous, creamy palate. Mild caramels fade into peppery heat, restrained grassy herbs, and pulling tannins. Burley tobacco leaves replace Canadian Club’s signature dark fruits. Finishes long, hot, and vaguely dry.
