San Lorenzo "Vigna di Gino" Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico
2025 San Lorenzo "Vigna di Gino" Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico

Named for Natalino’s father, Gino, this is the freshest expression of the estate, but it’s far from simple. It carries the signature San Lorenzo texture, with vibrant notes of green almond, citrus pith, and a sharp, saline kick on the finish. It’s a stunning introduction to the house style and one of the best value whites we carry.

Bisci Verdicchio di Matelica
2025 Bisci Verdicchio di Matelica

The 2025 Bisci Verdicchio di Matelica (DOC) is a spectacular, razor-sharp, and bone-dry monument to one of Italy’s greatest white varieties, highlighting the cold, continental microclimate of the Matelica syncline. Mauro Bisci crafts this absolute benchmark white from organically farmed estate vineyards sitting between $300$ and $350$ meters above sea level, where the vines are protected from maritime influences by the Apennine ridge. Rooted in highly calcareous clay soils rich in marine fossils, the juice is handled entirely in temperature-controlled glass-lined concrete vats with extended fine lees aging, completely blocking malolactic fermentation and avoiding heavy oak makeup to let pure, high-altitude energy take center stage.

San Lorenzo "Campo delle Oche" Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Riserva
2022 San Lorenzo "Campo delle Oche" Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Riserva

Natalino Crognaletti is an absolute legend in Le Marche, and his biodynamic estate, Fattoria San Lorenzo, produces what are undeniably some of the most profound, age-worthy expressions of Verdicchio in all of Italy. "Campo delle Oche" (The Field of Geese) is his masterpiece. If you are under the impression that Italian white wine is strictly light, simple, and meant for the patio, this bottle is going to completely rearrange your perspective. Thanks to Natalino's meticulous organic farming, old vines, and absolute mastery of extended lees aging, the 2024 Campo delle Oche is a massive, highly textured white wine—what we often call a "red wine drinker's white." It pours a deep, glowing golden-yellow and bursts from the glass with intoxicating, wild aromas of baked yellow apple, dried chamomile, raw honey, toasted hazelnut, and bruised peach. On the palate, it is incredibly dense, waxy, and expansive, coating the mouth with rich orchard fruit. Yet, for all its sheer weight, it is perfectly propelled by a brilliant, saline acidity that cuts right through the richness. The finish is savory and lasts for minutes, leaving a classic Verdicchio note of bitter almond and crushed sea salt. While it is mind-bendingly complex right now alongside roasted poultry or rich seafood, this has the architectural structure to evolve in the cellar for another ten to fifteen years easily. It is an absolute must-have for any serious collector of Italian wine.

Bisci "Vigneto Fogliano" Verdicchio di Matelica
2022 Bisci "Vigneto Fogliano" Verdicchio di Matelica

The "Vigneto Fogliano" Verdicchio di Matelica from Bisci is a refined and elegant expression of the Verdicchio grape, grown in the cool, mountainous region of Matelica in the heart of Marche. As one of the most renowned producers in the area, Bisci focuses on quality and tradition, and this single-vineyard offering showcases the unique terroir of the Fogliano vineyard. The higher elevation and mineral-rich soils of Matelica result in a Verdicchio with greater structure, freshness, and aging potential compared to those from other regions. On the nose, the "Vigneto Fogliano" displays vibrant aromas of green apple, lemon zest, and pear, interwoven with notes of white flowers, almond, and a touch of herbs. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with crisp acidity and a distinct saline minerality. Flavors of citrus, peach, and a hint of honeydew melon are balanced by a refreshing, clean finish that leaves lingering notes of almond and wet stone.
