Cascahuin "Tahona" Blanco Tequila (750ml)
Cascahuin "Tahona" Blanco Tequila (750ml)

Cascahuin has been one of my favorite producers in tequila since I first sipped tasted their entry level offerings years ago. Their traditional process creates spirits leaps and bounds ahead of most competitors in terms of quality and flavor. Effortlessly balanced and expressive, this entirely tahona-pressed bottling in particular exhibits everything that most blanco tequilas aspire to be. Rustic aromas of dusty herbs and dry earth instantly evoke the region from which this hails. The taste is unbelievably refined, with pure agave sweetness taking center stage, supported by fresh white pepper and chamomile. The finish shows darker fruit tones and a satisfying earthy counterpoint to the ethereal flavors up front. A lingering hint of roasted meat makes this endlessly satisfying to drink. Purists should always have this on the shelf, and those looking to take a step up in the category should look no further.

Tears of Llorona Extra Añejo Tequila (1L) (Local Delivery Only)
Tears of Llorona Extra Añejo Tequila (1L) (Local Delivery Only)

German Gonzalez has become one of the most respected and important distillers in Mexico. His work at Chinaco and his other projects have solidified him as one of the categories very best. Here he's partnered with our dear friend Enrique Fuenteseca to create the masterful product unlike anything else on the market. If German could improve his reputation anymore this was the product to do it. Originally created for his private drinking stock, ultra limited amounts of this wild elixir are now available to the public. They begin with agave at peak ripeness, hand selected by the master himself. After roasting in stone ovens and maceration, the aguamiel is fermented using German's proprietary yeast. This ultra slow fermentation allows for the deepest possible flavor. Double distillation on small copper pot stills before being put into American oak barrels for at least 3 years. After this stage, the exact aging regiment isn't totally clear, but we do know that after the initial maturation, the tequila is transferred for at least another year into the following types of wood: ex-Cognac french oak, ex-Single malt scotch barrels, ex-Sherry Butts. The final blend is a selection of those and maybe other types of wood all around 5 years bottled at 96 proof. The added proof provides richness and texture, but no additional heat. A stupendous example of what a skilled artisan can do when cost is of no object. And while it's not inexpensive, it represents a great value among the super elite and ultra premium tequila category.

Tequila Ocho Plata Tequila (750ml)
Tequila Ocho Plata Tequila (750ml)

*96 points, Ultimate Spirits Challenge Top 100 of 2020* Ocho's tequilas were created by Carlos Camarena, a third-generation Tequilero, and Tequila Ambassador Tomas Estes. And each vintage (yes, these are vintage designated tequilas) comes from a single estate with its own mesoclimate, making them the most terroir-driven tequilas on the market. The NOM 1474 or Tequilera Los Alambiques actually represents a new facility on the outskirts of Arandas built by Senor Camerena the famous distiller of Tapatio and El Tesoro Tequilas. This collaboration seeks to distill the purest form of agave to highlight the distinct flavor differences between agave grown in different terroir. Carlos uses estate grown agave and traditional methods to slow ferment and distill his specially selected single estate agave. (Estate and vintage pictured do not represent current stocks. Current vintages and estates change regularly and will not be indicated in our system.)

G4 "de Madera" Blanco Tequila
G4 "de Madera" Blanco Tequila

Without a doubt the El Pandillo Distillery sits at the pinnacle of Tequila production among a small pantheon of great producers. This core group of 6 to 7 distillers in the region aren't the only people making good to tequila, but they're the only distillers I can guarantee only make GREAT tequila and furthermore aren't using the controversial additives that have become ubiquitous in modern tequila production. I know for a fact that none of the greatest of the great distillers ever use additives in any product they bottle. But El Pandillo is particularly special in that their owner and master distillery Felipe Camarena is so experienced and confident, he's not held back by his ego in the pursuit of great tequila. His distillery was already producing some of the regions finest distillate, so why go and change the recipe? Simply put, there are new frontiers to concur. Fermenting in wood, the most traditional and expensive, offers huge hurdles and costs, but it also has the capability to add incredible depth and richness. That is exactly what they've achieved with this exceptional limited release product. Bottled at higher proof and without any additives, G4 achieves a new level of complexity that very few other producers can match, even among the pantheon of greats. The rich powerful aromas of tropical fruit and sweet earthy herbs contrast and impeccable sense of tension on the palate which keeps the vibrant spirit from feeling overly weighty. If you're a diehard Fortaleza fan but are frustrated with the incredibly difficulty it takes to track down a bottle, you'll more than satiated with this stupendous expression. This is contender for the very best Blanco tequila available today, but these yearly releases go surprisingly quick. I'm stocking up for the coming warm months now.

G4 "Premium" Blanco Tequila
G4 "Premium" Blanco Tequila

The famed G4 Tequila brand is the house brand of the exceptional El Pandillo Distillery in Jesus Maria. Refering to 4 generations of Tequila producers it was the first brand of Felipe Camerena when he left the family's famous distillery La Altena in 2007. Founded in 2011, he created a technologically advanced, sustainable, green distillery that still adheres to tradition in many terms of the production methods. Still crushed under physical pressure on his revolutionary adapted tahona affectionately named "Frankenstein" is an adapted steamroller that can crush agave with the same qualities as a traditional stone tahona, but uses a simple 1 horse power electrical motor. Felipe's many high quality brands are mainly distinguished by the water used for fermentation and the G4 brand uses both rain water and spring water giving it an incredibly refreshing and complex character. All of his tequilas are certified additive free and the distillery is ranked No. 2 on Tequila Matchmaker's coveted Top Tequila Distillery rankings. Only a handful of distillers in Jalisco can match the incredible G4 From the producer: "The purest expression of Blue Weber agave, our Blanco is authentic and approachable with a delicate minerality and gentle aroma derived from agave and spring water from our own farm, collected rainwater, and our Grandfather’s yeast. These are the only ingredients in G4. Clear, crisp flavors and a silky texture make it a hit with tequila lovers across the board."

Cimarron Blanco Tequila (1L)
Cimarron Blanco Tequila (1L)

From the distillery of Enrique Fonseca, the man behind the legendary K&L Fuenteseca, comes this value-priced, liter-sized tequila that seems almost too good to be true. We may not sell the amount of Cimmarron that we should, simply because people still wonder why it's so cheap. Don't let the price tag sway you: this is clean, fresh, easy-drinking tequila made from 100% agave that is definitely up to Enrique's high standards. This blanco is cleaner and lighter than the Pura Sangre blanco (also from Enrique) and mixes into Palomas like a breeze. You'll be buying this by the case before you know it. Beverage Testing Institute: "Clear color. Aromas and flavors of lavender, lemon balm, cologne, melon rind, and vanilla candle with a supple, crisp, dryish light body and a hot, breezy finish revealing elements of lime leaf and starfruit finish. A solid tequila for mixed drinks." *Highly Recommended* and *Silver Medal* (04/2019)

Calle 23 "Criollo" 2026 Limited Edition Reposado Tequila
Calle 23 "Criollo" 2026 Limited Edition Reposado Tequila

Calle 23’s original Criollo Blanco became a cult favorite, and Sophie Decobecq’s follow-up takes this distinctive agave in an entirely new direction. Created after the 2018 release honoring her first son, Abel, Criollo El Dos celebrates her second son, Eliès, with a limited-edition blend built around añejo tequila, complemented by smaller contributions of extra añejo and reposado. The foundation remains blue agave criollo, the unusually small plants prized for their high sugar content that inspired the original bottling. Rather than repeat that blanco, Sophie chose to explore how barrel maturation could develop the character of this special raw material. Bottled at 46.7% ABV and made without additives, El Dos brings together three categories of aged tequila in a single composition. The presentation is equally thoughtful: a hand-blown bottle made from recycled glass, decorated with hand-drawn artwork by Rose Guerrero. For those who followed the original Criollo, this is a particularly exciting next chapter, pairing Sophie’s fascination with these exceptional agaves with a distinctly different approach to aging and blending.

Corazon "K&L Exclusive" Barrel #ST-15-D-10-063 Stagg Barrel Aged Anejo Tequila (750ml)

The boomerang barrels from Buffalo Trace are super fun, and now that they've revised the pricing, they're among the best deals in tequila. Committing to barrels without tasting them first is a little nerve-racking, but there's also something exciting about never knowing exactly what you're going to get. This Stagg barrel spent nearly two years in excellent wood, and the result is absolutely lovely. Let's taste it! The color is pale straw (0.2), a classic añejo hue. The nose is deeply sweet, with crème brûlée, toasted vanilla, roasted orange peel, and overripe honeydew, punctuated by lime zest and crushed rock. The oak is prominent, but there's still wonderful freshness. With air, darker notes emerge roasted espresso, cooked pumpkin, and candied apple. The palate is exceptionally rich and round, with sweet oak and caramel candy followed by gorgeous earthy spice. It's a real roller coaster, perfectly balancing sweetness and spice. Simply lovely to drink, this is the sort of añejo plenty of fancier brands would happily charge five times as much for. Bourbon fan or not, you won't find more añejo for your dollar in the shop than these two exceptional barrels.

Fuenteseca "Cosecha - Huerta Singular - Las Antenas" Blanco Tequila (750ml)
2018 Fuenteseca "Cosecha - Huerta Singular - Las Antenas" Blanco Tequila (750ml)

The follow-up to the unbelievable first batch of Huerta Singular, the Las Antenas highlights a completely different terroir with the same goal of creating a completely unique example of blanco tequila. The overripe pinto Blue Weber agave for this batch was grown entirely in the mineral-laden caliche soils of Vista Hermosa in Michoacán. The ground is rich in calcium carbonate at the high elevation field. At just over 5,000 feet in elevation, the agave was left to ripen in the field after the quixote was cut, resulting in an ultra-ripe "pinto" or painted agave as the pencas discolor as the plant concentrates sugars in the piña. The resulting spirit is one of the most unique expressions of tequila we've ever stocked. Bold mineral character is coupled with tangy citrus peel and vibrant fresh herbs. A truly legendary addition to the Single Huerta line, which seeks to capture the flavors of one single field in the bottle. Distilled in 2018 and rested for two years before bottling at 44.8%.

Scored 95 points at the Beverage Testing Institute Awards in 2020 and awarded double gold at the 2019 International Spirits Challenge. The Camarenas are one of the most well respected families in Tequila, and with good reason. Both Felipe and his son Carlos have always honored the agave flavors in quality, traditionally produced Tequila, but that doesn't mean they shy away from long aging for Extra Añejo. This incredible Tequila spends 4-5 years in American oak ex-Bourbon barrels, but the deft use of wood never covers the delicate aroma and flavor of the agave itself. Nephew to Felipe and Carlos Camarena of Ocho and G4 fame, Roberto carves his own path at El Sabino Distillery, where agave is harvested at 5½ years and roasted in traditional masonry ovens. After slow cooking, the piñas are tahona-crushed, then fermented naturally in both wood and stainless steel before distillation in a hybrid of stainless and copper pot stills. The Blanco is bottled at 40% ABV without additives, delivering the true essence of highland agave with a balance of floral lift, citrus brightness, and gentle minerality framed by a clean sweetness. Free of celebrity hype and bloated pricing, Zumbador is built to show what honest tequila tastes like, and with the hummingbird—symbol of endurance—as its totem, this Blanco offers purity, elegance, and authenticity at an everyday price .

Manuscrito "Chapter One" Single Estate Blanco Tequila (750ml)
Manuscrito "Chapter One" Single Estate Blanco Tequila (750ml)

The exceptional new Manuscrito may be the most exciting brand to emerge from Mexico in years, but it is not the beautifully curated presentation that defines this tequila, it is the remarkable liquid inside. Produced in the Highlands at the new El Sabino distillery, Manuscrito is already turning heads. In a very short time, El Sabino has climbed to #4 on Tequila Matchmaker’s Top 100 distilleries, just behind Fortaleza, Cascahuín, and El Pandillo. That may seem trivial to outsiders, but the top tier has remained largely unchanged for years, making this rapid ascent incredibly significant. A handful of new producers are now challenging the old guard, and they are doing it with serious quality at very fair prices. The formula is simple in theory but rare in execution: secure fully mature agave at the right moment, invest in a thoughtfully designed distillery, and refuse to cut corners. While some traditionalists may note the absence of tahona extraction, the results speak for themselves. This is one of the finest tequilas available at any price today. The single estate blanco opens with a subtle nose of roasted pumpkin, citrus zest, minerality, and underripe mango. With air, it expands beautifully, revealing deeper notes of sweet cooked agave, hibiscus, honeysuckle, buttercream, dried fruit, and earthy spice. The palate mirrors the nose, delivering roasted fruit, bright citrus, and a rich, creamy texture in perfect balance. The finish is long and satisfying, with a spicy mineral depth more often associated with the best Lowland examples. An impeccable and genuinely exciting release that proves even the newest producers can achieve greatness with the right raw materials and uncompromising intent.

Casco Viejo Blanco Tequila (1L)
Casco Viejo Blanco Tequila (1L)

To make a long story short, not only is this is the best blanco tequila under $30, but it also outperforms most brands at twice the price or more. The long version involves going back to the beginning of tequila as a regional style of spirit. Jose Cuervo was the first major tequila producer in the middle of the 18th century, and at the time, most of the agave was coming from the lower lying regions now known as El Valle. One hundred years later, the valley was saturated with agave fields owned by large companies, so producers trying to enter the market were increasingly looking to plant agave in the previously undeveloped mountain areas. The Camarena family began doing so in the 1880's, ultimately leading to building their distilleries and the brands we see today. El Tesoro de Don Felipe and G4 are headed by two Camarena brothers who struck out to build their own tequila brands, while the main family estate makes Casco Viejo, and they do it in the most traditional style you'll find at an everyday price point. Roasted in brick ovens rather than high-pressure steam vats, fermented over the course of days and weeks rather than hours, and bottled without the use of chemical additives, this is pure and authentic tequila. As we typically get from the highland style, the flavor cooked agave comes accented with lifted citrus and subtle floral tones. A hint of pepper and dried mountain herbs brings some savory influence, and the finish is clean and refreshing. It hits all the right notes. Not just margarita fodder, it's unbelievably enjoyable to sip neat, even more-so to serve as ranch water. When the cost of everything coming from Jalisco is only increasing, treat yourself to something that turns back time, delivering historic quality at a long-forgotten price point.

Jose Cuervo "Reserva De La Familia" Private Cask Collection: Mole Edition Anejo Tequila

Reserva de la Familia’s Private Cask Collection returns with one of the most intriguing tequila releases of the year. Edition No. 2 takes the house’s añejo, first aged in new American and French oak, and gives it a second maturation in a cask seasoned with traditional mole ingredients, including dried chiles, cacao, spices and charred elements. It’s a distinctly Mexican idea, bringing one of the country’s great culinary traditions into the cellar. The Blue Weber agave is hand-harvested in the Tequila region, cooked in traditional stone ovens and distilled at La Rojeña, the historic home of Jose Cuervo. The first Private Cask edition, released in 2023, explored Colombian oak through four different blends. This 2026 edition focuses on a single expression, with each bottle individually numbered. Only 1,200 six-bottle cases were produced, and the tequila is bottled at 80 proof. Reserva de la Familia has long given us a glimpse into the remarkable casks resting in La Rojeña’s cellars. This release finds a fresh way to tell that story, connecting the traditions of agave, oak and Mexican cuisine in a bottle that could only have come from Jalisco.

Manuscrito "Chapter Three" Single Estate Reposado Tequila (750ml)

The exceptional new Manuscrito may be the most exciting brand to emerge from Mexico in years, but it is not the beautifully curated presentation that defines this tequila, it is the remarkable liquid inside. Produced in the Highlands at the new El Sabino distillery, Manuscrito is already turning heads. In a very short time, El Sabino has climbed into the upper echelon of Tequila Matchmaker’s rankings, just behind icons like Fortaleza, Cascahuín, and El Pandillo. Chapter Three shifts the conversation slightly, introducing a delicate touch of oak while preserving the distillery’s signature clarity. Aged just over three months in barrel, the influence is intentionally restrained, allowing the agave to remain front and center. The nose is immediately expressive with cooked agave layered over honey, light oak, citrus peel, and soft baking spice. On the palate, warm cinnamon and baking spices lead into creamy cooked agave, honey, and butterscotch, with subtle herbal and citrus elements adding lift and complexity. The texture is supple and rounded, offering a gentle richness without sacrificing freshness, while the finish carries a harmonious blend of honeyed agave, spice, and lingering citrus with just enough structure to keep things focused. This is exactly what great reposado should be: restrained, agave-driven, and quietly complex, with the barrel acting as an accent rather than the headline, but still adding depth and nuance to the picture.

The palate mixes sweetness and pleasing salinity: salted almonds winds into bell pepper, asparagus and fresh herbs. Salted vanilla sweetness takes over into the warming finish. Aged one year in ex-American whiskey barrels. (KN)

ArteNOM "Seleccion 1123" Blanco Tequila (750ml)
ArteNOM "Seleccion 1123" Blanco Tequila (750ml)

This unique Tequila is the latest inistallment in the wonderful ArteNOM line. Coming from the famous, historic, family-owned Cascahuin Distillery in El Arenal, Jalisco, you know it's good. This blanco actually spends 28 days resting in a barrel that previously held Don Amado Mezcal. It's technically still a blanco as it spends less than the 30 days required to lable reposado. There is a hint of smoke and wildness that you don't normally find in the tequilas of Cascahuin. A beautiful addition to an already incredible lineup.

Manuscrito "Chapter Two" Single Estate High Proof Blanco Tequila (750ml)
Manuscrito "Chapter Two" Single Estate High Proof Blanco Tequila (750ml)

The exceptional new Manuscrito may be the most exciting brand to emerge from Mexico in years, but it is not the beautifully curated presentation that defines this tequila, it is the remarkable liquid inside. Produced in the Highlands at the new El Sabino distillery, Manuscrito is already turning heads. In a very short time, El Sabino has climbed into the upper echelon of Tequila Matchmaker’s rankings, just behind icons like Fortaleza, Cascahuín, and El Pandillo. Chapter Two takes everything that made the original release compelling and dials it up with a high proof bottling at 51.55% ABV, amplifying both structure and intensity. The nose is immediately more assertive, driven by bold cooked agave framed by bell pepper, earthy vegetal tones, and a lifted citrus edge with hints of white pepper and baking spice. On the palate, the texture is richer and more forceful, with sweet agave at the core wrapped in black pepper, cinnamon, and layered vegetal complexity, while citrus and subtle lactic creaminess add lift and balance. There’s a distinctly structured, almost tannic grip here, likely from fermentation with fibers, giving the tequila a serious, mouth-coating presence. The finish is long, spicy, and mineral-driven, with lingering notes of cinnamon, pepper, and earthy citrus that seem to echo endlessly. A powerful and uncompromising expression that shows exactly what this new distillery is capable of when pushed to the limit, Chapter Two feels like a clear step forward and a sign they are just getting started.
