Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2000 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (97JD, 94DC, 94RP, 93VN). Jeb Dunnuck: "Absolutely firing on all cylinders and with an open, borderline slutty profile, the 2000 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a dream on the nose, showing complex, meaty aromas of black truffle, spice rack, charcuterie, and garrigue. There’s fantastic intensity here and you can smell this wine as soon as the bottle is opened. Just as good on the palate, the wine sports a medium to full-bodied, ripe profile, perfect balance, and a dazzling finish that has you looking for another glass. " (09/2011)

Bid on this 6-liter Imperial of 2000 Château Palmer, Margaux (97JS, 96WS, 95JA, 95RP, 94VN, 94WE), from the legendary Margaux Third Growth widely regarded as the appellation’s finest estate after Château Margaux itself, made in the celebrated 2000 vintage from a blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon and 47% Merlot. James Suckling calls it “a typical Palmer showing finesse alongside strength,” praising its blackberry, plum, chocolate and cedar character. Once stubbornly closed, this perfumed, racy and powerful Palmer has opened beautifully, revealing cassis, black cherry and plum layered with tobacco, violets, anise and smoky incense, framed by silky, well-integrated tannins and a long, beautiful finish. A spectacular, collectible large format from one of Bordeaux’s great modern vintages, ideal for a milestone celebration.

Bid on this bottle of 2000 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac (100JS, 99WE, 98CK, 98DC, 98JA, 98RP, 98WS, 97VN). James Suckling: "The nose is fresh, bright, and dense. With aromas of violets, minerals, spices, cool stones, mint, dark fruits, and plum skins, this is beautiful. Very much still a baby right now, it needs much more time. This is a wine for the next generation. Finesse and elegance, truly a wine that makes you contemplate life. This is not about power, there is really nothing like it. " (02/2011)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2000 Clos du Marquis, St-Julien (94WS, 93CK, 92RP, 91JS, 90VN). Wine Spectator: "The nose shows loads of plum, spice and meat aromas, as well as hints of licorice. It's full-bodied, with firm, yet velvety textured tannins. It's big and rounded. If you can't afford Las Cases, try some of this. Some might call this a second wine, but it comes from a plot of vineyards not deemed worthy of Léoville Las Cases. So it's like its own estate. *Ranked #14 Top 100 Wine of 2003, Smart Buys* (JS)" (03/2003)

Bid on this bottle of 2000 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (99RP, 98JD, 98VN, 97DC, 97JA, 96WE). Wine Advocate: "Tasted from an ex-château bottle in Bordeaux, I was not surprised to find the 2000 Château Haut-Brion flirting with perfection. The nose is simply breathtaking - quintessential Haut-Brion with ebullient red berry fruit, roasted herbs, gravel, terracotta tiles on a warm summer's day...it is simply wave after wave of intoxicating scents that could bring even the most stoic person to tears of joy. The palate displays heavenly balance, pitch-perfect acidity, perhaps spicier than previous bottles that I have tasted, and what depth and dimension in this outstanding wine. That hint of graphite on the finish is a cheeky nod to Pauillac, as if to thumb its nose at the First Growths, because alongside Château Latour, almost by stealth, the Haut-Brion is one of the greatest Bordeaux in this millennial year. Bid on this magnum of 2000 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Musigny Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes (1.5L) (93BH, 93RP, 92ST). Wine Advocate: "There is an enthralling sappy richness to the floral and blackberry-scented 2000 Musigny. Supremely elegant, it is not quite as dense as the 2001 yet reveals outstanding depth, purity, and concentration. Lush, stony red and black fruits are interspersed with violets and tangy raspberries in its exceptionally long, expressive, plump character." (06/2003)

Bid on this bottle of 2000 Lascombes, Margaux (94JA, 90RP). Jane Anson: "Plum-purple in colour, and once again a controlled freshness is on display, as has been the case in all of these older vintages. Significantly darker than the others tasted so far, just 10 years between this and the 1990 but the colour difference is far greater than between 1970 and 1990. Impressive wine, with plenty of balance, still relatively young, with none of the tertiary characeristics that you find in the older wines. Here instead you get cassis bud, grilled toast, tobacco, blackberry and blackcurrant, with curling edges of campfire and crayon, plenty of Left Bank signature. Lacks a little weight through the mid palate which turns into rigidity on the final moments, but this is enjoyable. 65% new oak (the last year when it sits at around this level until 2017). Bruno le Moine technical director. At this point they had routinely stopped including Cabernet Franc in the blend of the 1st wine." (10/2023)

Bid on this bottle of 2000 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac (97RP, 97WE, 96DC, 95ST, 95W&S). Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet colored with a touch of brick, the 2000 Mouton Rothschild (composed of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot) boldly bursts from the glass with tantalizing Black Forest cake, dried mulberries, kirsch and blackcurrant pastilles notes plus wafts of iodine, incense, potpourri and cinnamon stick with a hint of cigar boxes. Medium to full-bodied, the palate packs in the muscular fruit, framed by firm, ripe, grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with phenomenal length. This is an incredibly complex and multifaceted wine, and it's drinking deliciously now. This said, I can’t help but feel that it is holding something back, that it still has another layer of opulence and seduction to reveal in its tight-knit fruit and solid structure. I personally can’t wait to see how this beauty will continue to unfold over the years to come. (LPB) 97+" (10/2019)

Calvados is Normandy’s cider-based brandy, with age statements reflecting maturation in oak. Domaine de Merval’s 2000 “Calico House” is a 24-year-old expression bottled at cask strength. Drawn from a single barrel rather than assembled from multiple casks, this bottling offers a distinctly focused example of long-aged Calvados.
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2000 d'Yquem, Sauternes (96DC). Decanter: "Things were more difficult in Sauternes than in the rest of Bordeaux in the 2000 vintage, with a brilliant first picking in early October that showed all the promise of the vintage, but with the later crop ruined by heavy rain. In the end Yquem made 20% of its usual yield, but the success of the earlier growing season comes through with luxuriously concentrated apricot and marmalade flavours, laced with bitter orange, lime zest, butterscotch, saffron and white truffles. 128g/l of residual sugar, with total acidity of 4.5. The team behind this wine included current winemaking director Sandrine Garbay, who had begun two years earlier in 1998, with the château already partly owned by Bernard Arnault of LVMH (he bought his first shares in 1996) but still headed up by director Alexandre de Lur Saluces, whose family had been at Yquem since 1875. The Wine Independent: "A blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2000 Montrose is medium to deep garnet in color, with a touch of brick. It charges out with ready-to-go notes of juicy plums, black cherry compote, and wild blueberries, opening out to a perfume of candied violets, camphor, rose oil, new leather, and fragrant soil. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2000 Léoville-Barton, St-Julien (96JS, 96WE, 96WS, 95RP, 94VN, 94W&S). Wine Enthusiast: "Right from the early days of tasting in spring 2001, this was going to be one of the stars of the vintage. And a star it remains. There is big, ripe fruit, with solid, ageworthy tannins. It may not be as powerful as some of the blockbusters of the vintage, but it is certainly more opulent, less classical than Léoville-Barton can sometimes be. (RV)" (06/2003)

Potentially one of the most compelling wines of the vintage, this inky black/purple-colored 2000 exhibits notes of scorched earth, melted asphalt, blackberry liqueur, and a pungent, penetrating intensity that reverberates in the mouth as well as the head. Full-bodied, massive, and concentrated, with a 45-second finish, this thrilling effort should drink well between 2010-2035. (RP)
Royal Troon hosted the 152nd Open Championship in 2024, the occasion celebrated by this Loch Lomond release. Part of the distillery’s Open Course Collection, this 24-year-old Highland single malt uses Manzanilla sherry casks. Manzanilla comes from the coastal Spanish town of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, connecting this golf-inspired Scotch with one of Spain’s distinctive sherry traditions.

Luis Pato has built his reputation in Bairrada, particularly through his work with the region’s Baga grape. This 2000 “Joao Pato” features Cabernet Sauvignon instead, offering a different varietal chapter from a producer closely associated with this part of west-central Portugal.
Château de Beaulon's remarkable vintage Pineaux offer a glimpse into a category that almost never receives this sort of time or attention. Produced entirely from the historic estate surrounding the 15th-century château, this extraordinary 2000 Blanc is composed of 80% Sémillon with the balance Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris, varieties that Beaulon has steadfastly maintained alongside the traditional grapes used for its Cognacs. After more than two decades of evolution, the wine has taken on the deep complexity that makes old Pineau such a singular experience. The color has moved toward burnished copper-gold, while the youthful fruit has developed into layers of vanilla, toasted almond, honey, gentle spice and rich preserved fruit. Yet beneath all that maturity remains the freshness and structure of the original vintage. This is worlds removed from simple aperitif Pineau, a mature fortified wine of extraordinary depth from one of the Charente's great historic estates. At this age and level of quality, these wines begin to invite comparison with the world's great long-lived sweet wines: Sauternes, Madeira, Coteaux du Layon and Vin Santo. Yet for sheer price-to-quality ratio, none can hold a candle to the extraordinary Beaulon vintage Pineaux we are offering today.
The 2000 Fonseca continues to exude finesse and focus on the nose, with pure blackberry, juniper berries, licorice and a touch of sloes, perhaps as Adrian Bridge remarked, just beginning to close after ten years in bottle. The palate is underpinned by very fine tannins, a sensual, svelte texture with wonderful acidity. The harmony and symmetry is alluring, the finish precise and demonstrating the persistency to suggest a long future ahead. (NM)
A mouthful, this wine gushes with pure, ripe Cabernet fruit. Tiers of currant, anise, blackberry, cherry and wild berry flavors are supported by pretty mocha-scented oak and plush, velvety tannins that firm up on the finish, giving it a solid backbone, yet the persistent flavors keep pushing through. (JL)

Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Barbaresco Riserva Asili is as it always has been; impeccably refined, nuanced and silky from start to finish. I have tasted (or drunk!) this wine at least a dozen times since it was first released. The bouquet shows the faintest signs of positive development while the fruit remains vibrant and beautifully articulated. I don’t see the 2000 Asili Riserva being one of the longest lived Red Labels, but it is unquestionably striking in its beauty. (AG)" (05/2011)

This spectacular old Highland Park comes from Farr Vintners' tiny York Road Bottlers program, created to showcase individual casks from distilleries they genuinely love. Distilled at Highland Park in 2000 and bottled in 2022 at 22 years old, this single cask yielded just 144 bottles at a natural cask strength of 52.9% ABV, without chill filtration or added coloring. The whisky was chosen as the inaugural release in Farr's Artist Series and given a presentation worthy of such a rare old Orkney malt. Each bottle comes in a handsome Glencairn decanter housed inside a bespoke cutaway wooden box, with one side displaying the whisky details and the other featuring an original work commissioned from celebrated British artist Dan Hillier. Hillier called the piece "Grene Man," using the old English spelling of the folkloric Green Man, and his unmistakable combination of Victorian engraving, mythology and surrealism makes this one of the most striking whisky packages we've encountered. Hillier, whose work also appeared on Royal Blood's debut album and in projects for the Louvre and Shakespeare's Globe, sadly died in 2024. Beyond the remarkable presentation, the numbers here speak for themselves: genuine 22-year-old single-cask Highland Park from the 2000 vintage, bottled without chill-filtration, with only 144 decanters produced. An exceptionally rare independent Highland Park and a remarkable artifact from both the distillery and one of Britain's most distinctive contemporary artists.

Ripe, fruity, and redolent of spiced plums at Christmas time. The 2000 vintage port was bottled in 2002, darkly hued and loaded with spiced fruit aromatics. The palate is warming and welcoming. Spiced berry tart flavours, gingerbread, rum raisin and Mexican chocolate all meld together wonderfully. Twenty-three years on this wine shows plenty of gusto to keep a bottle locked away somewhere to revisit in another decade or more. (CP)

Of the 2000 Turley "Hayne Vineyard" Napa Petite Syrah, 96 points Robert Parker writes: "The 2000 Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard is off the charts in terms of extract and richness. Its impenetrable black/blue/purple color is followed by scents of incense, cassis, minerals, blackberry liqueur, and graphite. This monstrously full, rich, and textured wine needs 10-12 years of cellaring, and will keep for 35-40 years." (08/02) 90-92 points Stephen Tanzer: "Saturated dark ruby. Fresh, deep aromas of kirsch and tobacco; smells a bit like ruby port. Penetrating and sharply focused, but quite closed today. Not especially sweet or fleshy despite its 15.1% alcohol. Rather stubbornly backward and firmly tannic on the finish." (May/June 02)

Santo Stefano is a warm, south-facing site, and much of that is captured in the wine’s open, inviting personality. I don’t expect this to be a super-long lived Santo Stefano, but it has held up quite well and far better thn the 1997, also from a hot year. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2020." ******SPECIAL ORDER SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY - NEW YORK ARRIVAL IN 5-7 BUSINESS DAYS. NO REFUNDS OR RETURNS******* Distilled in 2000 and bottled in 2025, this 25-year-old Ardbeg comes from Oloroso sherry butt #1100000016, which yielded just 245 bottles at a natural cask strength of 55.4% ABV. Founded in 1815 by John MacDougall, Ardbeg endured closure in 1981 and a period of intermittent production before The Glenmorangie Company's acquisition in 1997 began its remarkable revival. This vintage dates from those early years of renewed investment, well before the distillery's expansion to four stills in 2021. Selected for La Maison du Whisky's Artist #15 Something in the Water collection, it forms part of a collaboration with Elixir Distillers celebrating Islay's historic distilleries. Launched in 2011, the Artist series pairs individual casks bottled at natural strength with the work of contemporary visual artists. This edition features North Indian artist Radhika Surana, whose indigo-dyed textiles and intricate embroidery evoke imaginary journeys across Islay's landscape. Her work Meandering through lichens III accompanies this single cask, uniting a quarter century of Oloroso maturation with a significant period in Ardbeg's modern history.

Absolutely knockout stuff, the 2000 Léoville Poyferré is a sexy, layered, totally irresistible Bordeaux that’s firing on all cylinders today. Sporting a deep ruby/purple color and blockbuster notes of blackcurrants, lead pencil shavings, cedar and tobacco, this concentrated, powerful 2000 has a rounded, opulent texture, sweet tannin, and a huge finish. This is like smelling an amazing bouquet of flowers, deep and thought provoking. Notes of raspberries, and strawberries round out the refined nose. Full and silky. More than just silk really, it is almost transparent. Incredibly mellow, yet enticing. It is difficult to find the perfect word.
