Founded in 1815 by John MacDougall, Ardbeg endured closure in 1981 and a period of intermittent production before The Glenmorangie Company's acquisition in 1997 began its remarkable revival. This vintage dates from those early years of renewed investment, well before the distillery's expansion to four stills in 2021. Selected for La Maison du Whisky's Artist #15 Something in the Water collection, it forms part of a collaboration with Elixir Distillers celebrating Islay's historic distilleries. Launched in 2011, the Artist series pairs individual casks bottled at natural strength with the work of contemporary visual artists. This edition features North Indian artist Radhika Surana, whose indigo-dyed textiles and intricate embroidery evoke imaginary journeys across Islay's landscape. Her work Meandering through lichens III accompanies this single cask, uniting a quarter century of Oloroso maturation with a significant period in Ardbeg's modern history.
