Out of magnum, the wine is still at its glorious zenith of peak drinkability, as it soars from the glass in a maddeningly brilliant mélange of cherries, plums, new leather, walnuts, a lovely base of soil, summer truffles, menthol, singed heather and cigar ash. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and utterly refined, with a timeless beauty, superb mid-palate depth, very intensely flavored and complex, and a bit of old school, chewy tannin still remaining on the very, very long and beautifully focused finish. This is really a simply profound vintage of Canon, and out of magnum it still possesses decades more life ahead of it. A stunning wine. " (07/2010)
