Reviewed September 2015The 1997 Pinot Noir Jensen Vineyard is deep, dense and powerful, with considerable intensity, but also slightly drying tannins that suggest it is best enjoyed sooner rather than later, before the fruit loses too much more of its depth. Sweet tobacco, mint, dried flowers and licorice add shades of nuance on the powerful finish. (AG)

Wine Advocate
This minty-styled, dark ruby-colored Jensen Pinot Noir reveals notes of Japanese green tea and spearmint as well as a lean, medium-bodied, dense, tart finish. (RP)
WS
Wine Spectator
A mix of dry, austere tannins wrapped around ripe plum, rose petal and black cherry. Turns spicy and complex on the finish.

A distinct herbal Amaro-like character defines the ‘97 Jensen. Pine, wintergreen, briary red fruits, leather. Fascinating wine even with most of the fruit backing off. Texturally still very much keeping it together. This would be awesome with richer game or braised pork.
