Founded in 1817 by brothers John and Thomas McClelland, Bladnoch has endured more than its share of closures and ownership changes. Its most recent resurrection began in 2015 when Australian entrepreneur David Prior acquired the shuttered distillery and undertook an ambitious restoration. Four years later, he recruited former Macallan Master Distiller Dr. Nick Savage to lead the next chapter. Savage's extensive experience with Diageo, William Grant & Sons and The Macallan made him uniquely qualified to oversee this historic revival. Personally selected by Savage for the distillery's limited Single Cask Collection, this remarkable whisky spent 18 years maturing in bourbon oak before bottling at 108.4 proof. The extended maturation has developed a beautifully balanced profile of caramel, cinnamon and oak spice, showcasing the elegance of mature Bladnoch without the influence of fortified wine casks, finishes or other gimicks.
