Reviewed June 2026This is the first of Val do Galir’s “cru” wines from vineyards planted in the paraje of Don Fiz on soils with a lot of slate. It is aged for seven months in a combination of stainless steel on lees, concrete and 500L French oak which brings subtlety and complexity. With saline notes and grapefruit pith on the nose, it is lively and bright, and opens to an elegant palate with direct acidity and green apple. It is a pure expression of Godello and ridiculous value at the price.

The 2024 Godello Val do Galir A Malosa is from Entoma, Valdeorras. This presents soft pear, linden and a touch of orange peel on the nose, with a pure expression. Aging in foudres and 500-liter barrels lent a delicate cedar note. This is dry and fresh, with a linear palate supported by well-defined oak. It shows precise winemaking, a talc-like texture and a subtle pink hint. (JH)

Steely, with notes of dried apples and salted lemons. The medium- to full-bodied palate is savory and saline, with an attractive, tight and delineated profile of white fruit and stones. From a single vineyard in the eastern part of the appellation, planted on schist soils. Very pleasant and direct, with a subdued creaminess. (JGA)
