The 2021 Thorevilos is stunning. What a wine. Inky, deep and marvelously vibrant, the 2021 sizzles with tension. Graphite, crushed rocks, pencil shavings, lavender and menthol are all amplified in this towering, statuesque beauty. All the 2021 Abreu wines are super, but this one has the magic dust. This is as good as it gets. (AG)

Red, blue, and black fruits, iron, new leather, and spice notes all define the 2021 Thorevilos, a remarkably complex, nuanced, flawlessly balanced red based largely on Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. It shows the focused, elegant, yet structured style of the vintage and has serious tannins, a layered mouthfeel, and a blockbuster of a finish. It offers some upfront appeal, yet as with the other 2021s here, the cellar will be your friend. Hide bottles for 4-5 years and enjoy over the following 20-25.

Abreu's 2021 Thorevilos Proprietary Red is rather stern, dark and earthy, with brooding cassis fruit and plenty of tannin. It's full-bodied and dusty-textured, more impressive than yummy at this particular moment in time, so give it several years—at least—in the cellar and drink it over the following two decades. 98+ (JC)

This is densely packed and shows a more broad-shouldered profile than most in this vintage, packing in walnut husk and espresso crema notes along with dense black currant and blackberry paste flavors. There’s a brushstroke of bittersweet cocoa on the finish for added textural nuance, with chestnut and loam echoes through the lengthy finish. Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.
