Reviewed November 2023Philippe Drouhin has 0.23 hectares of vines in Bonnes Mares in a well-situated plot in the centre of the vineyard that delivered a delicious wine in 2022 with more shoulders and more weight than most of the wines in the cellar. The fruit aromas are darker - blackberry and plum - and there are hints of earth and smoke. The grapes are fermented as 30% whole clusters before ageing in large casks, primarily used. Although the wine is somewhat closed, it will open for five to seven years and drink over the next 20 or more. (Drink between 2025-2050)
Notes
This 2022 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru offers dark blackberry and plum aromas with hints of earth and smoke. Broad-shouldered and weighty, it is somewhat closed in its youth and suited to extended cellaring. Fermented with 30% whole clusters, the wine is aged in large, primarily used casks.
