Reviewed February 2026Black raspberries, graphite, pepper, and spring flowers define the 2023 Cornas Lieu-Dit Patou from the lieu-dit Patou. All destemmed and aged 16 months in 20% new French oak, it's medium to full-bodied and concentrated, with a focused, structured mouthfeel, building tannins, and a great finish. This concentrated, structured, impressive Cornas will keep for 15+ years and will benefit from a few years in the cellar.

One of the rare wines that I prefer to the 2022, the 2023 Cornas Lieu-Dit Patou unfurls in the glass with aromas of mulberries, plum, cassis and dark olive mingled with violet. Medium- to full-bodied, dense and concentrated, it’s built around a fleshy, velvety core of fruit, concluding with a gently austere finish that lends additional character. Sourced from south-facing plots, including a new parcel at 275 meters of altitude introduced in this vintage, it gains both depth and a more structured, mineral profile. (YC)
