Reviewed April 2025The 2022 Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard famously comes from a high-elevation place with thin soils, the conditions contributing to its signature power and intensity. This vintage is particularly brooding, offering developed layers of blackberry, strawberry compote, and cardamom. Sage and chaparral provide an earthy, herbal edge to the otherwise rich, rewarding wine, which wears its medium-bodied weight and structure well. Enjoy over the next decade or more. (VB)

Aromas of cherries, Damson plums, pencil shavings and spices. The palate is soft and supple, with a medium-bodied mouthfeel and finely integrated tannins, giving flavors of wild blackberries, blueberries and citrus peel. Tightly wound and pure. Drink or hold.
Notes
Gary Pisoni planted Pisoni Vineyard in 1982 on the slopes above California’s Salinas Valley. Kosta Browne’s 2022 vineyard-designated Pinot Noir comes from this site in the Santa Lucia Highlands, a Monterey County appellation whose position along the eastern flank of the Santa Lucia Mountains exposes its vineyards to cooling air from Monterey Bay.
