It's deeply herbal, floral and quite expressive, a wine that impresses with its textural polish and excellent focus. Impeccably balanced, the 2023 is a velvety, enticing wine with a deep vein of graphite minerality that builds through the mid-palate and explodes through the finish. The 2023 Farrow Ranch Vineyard Blocks 18 & 19 is a compelling blend of 66% Malbec and 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, matured for 22 months in 90% new French oak. It explodes from the glass with a siren song of blue fruit, lilac, truffle, damp earth, savory herbs, Bresaola and ferrous, iron-like undertones. The full-bodied palate is youthfully coiled and focused on concentrated, dark fruit and spicy oak at this stage. It’s structured by muscular, powdery tannins and succulent acidity and has a long, mineral-laced finish. It opens dramatically over several days and should be long lived in the cellar. 96+ (EB)
