The Gardette Tradition is everything you could hope for in a classic Gigondas. A confiture of strawberry and raspberry is accented by notes of pipe tobacco, tea leaf and peppery spice. The palate is juicy and lively, with just the right amount of structure, making each sip more compelling than the last.

Notes

Jean-Baptiste Meunier represents the fifth generation of winemakers at Moulin de la Gardette in Gigondas. We've worked with this producer since the mid-1990s, and these wines remain among our favorites from the region. Gigondas has emerged from the shadow of neighboring Châteauneuf-du-Pape, creating wines of distinctive intensity and flavor. The appellation's south-facing slopes, higher elevations, and varied soils help distinguish the region. The "Tradition" blends Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah from vines averaging 50-60 years old. Aged approximately 18 months in mostly used foudre and demi-muid before bottling. (Keith Mabry, K&L Rhône Buyer) *Organic*
