This wine delivers a benchmark Anderson Valley flavor profile at a price point that is simply unbeatable. Over-delivering on value has always been at the core of the Anonymous Wine Collective, and I'm certain this wine does that and then some. I'm thrilled with the end result of this bottling that I was able to compose from barrel samples dialing in the exact character I wanted to capture from this top quality vintage and great but (top secret) vineyard source. The wine is loaded is pure forest berry fruit, dusty, earthy spices, brambles, Redwood grove, and alpine herbs. Elegant and silky, but full of flavor and layered nuance. For $20 I challenge you to find a more complete bottle of Pinot Noir that delivers the goods so emphatically! Enjoy!

Anderson Valley, to me, is a region finding the mid-point between the earthy, light, more serious side of Pinot Noir and its supple, rich, velvety counter-part. Cranberry, pomegranate and sour cherry jump from the glass in the Anderson Valley Anonymous Pinot Noir. Licorice, truffle and a hint of white pepper and cedar meld into the background. The slight tannin and lively acidity help to form a complex wine with a lingering finish.

We tasted this along side of the latest release of our Anonymous Chardonnay from Petaluma Gap and found it just as exciting. it's an elegant and seamless style Pinot with delicious red fruits and spice throughout. Although perfect on it's own, it's a wonderful mid-week dinner wine as well. Try with pork, Asian style dishes and mild cheeses.

With the continuing success of the Anonymous Wine Collective, one would think that we would exhaust our potential for uncovering superb new finds, but under the inspired vision of Ryan Woodhouse and his talented team, the hits keep coming! Anderson Valley has long established itself as a prime region for cool-climate Pinot Noir, and this poised bottle demonstrates precisely why. In its selection of old vine, partial whole cluster fruit shimmering with black cherry, eucalyptus, violets and dark chocolate aromas mirrored in a mouthwatering palate imbued with bright acidity and velvety tannins, this wine delivers a crescendo of flavors at a remarkably attractive price. A fantastic gem!

Notes

With this latest Pinot Noir from the Anonymous Wine Collective, we’re pushing value to a whole new level. Since launching Anonymous, the opportunities to bottle incredible wines at mind-blowing prices have gone beyond even my wildest expectations. This wine at $20 is simply ridiculous. It comes from a mature, organically farmed estate vineyard in the heart of Anderson Valley’s famed "Deep End," the westernmost reaches of the valley where the vines are cooled by a daily influx of coastal air and fog. This unique climate creates Pinot Noir with a wonderful balance of ripe fruit and savory complexity. Warm daytime temperatures build depth and richness, bringing dark berry fruit, exotic spice, and hints of sassafras, while the cool nights preserve vibrant acidity and bring out more nuanced notes of alpine herbs, forest floor, and truffle. Despite the wine's quite translucent, ruby red hue, there’s real depth, complexity, and sense of place here - qualities you simply don’t expect to find in a $20 Pinot Noir. Once again, the power of keeping the winery name Anonymous delivers massive savings over the typical price point of Pinot Noir from this property. Enjoy! (Ryan Woodhouse - K&L Domestic Wine Buyer)
