Reviewed January 2025Note: from a parcel of vines in Flagey opposite the Clos de Vougeot. A slightly riper and more deeply pitched nose also features mostly red berry aromas cut with evident earth nuances. There is slightly better volume if not necessarily better density to the attractively textured flavors that offer just a bit more refinement on the youthfully austere bitter pit fruit-inflected finale. This too should drink well young.

Full fresh purple, notably reductive. A significant dose of deep red fruit underneath, plenty of tannins, though the reduction may be reinforcing these, and excellent energy to finish. When the reduction blows off, this will be impressive. Drink from 2026-2028. Tasted Nov 2025.

The 2023 Bourgogne Rouge has a crisp and very pure bouquet of perfumed red fruit. The palate is taut and fresh with redcurrant, cranberry and just a slight confit note on the finish. This Bourgogne Rouge has impressive weight and drinkability.(NM)
