Reviewed January 2026This release from de Vogüé would be delicious in any vintage, in 2024 it is astounding. There is impressive concentration to the ripe cherry and plum fruit aromas with an edge of peony and pepper. The texture is tannic and firm – the solid nature of the wine in such an aqueous vintage is remarkable. One imagines it is down to the effect of low yields, as well as to the inclusion of 15%-20% grapes from the premiers crus of Baudes and Fuées.(CC)

Deeply colored, this is a firm Chambolle with ample structure for considerable aging, especially thanks to 20% of the cuvée being composed of Premier Crus including Les Fuées and Les Baudes. The tannins are firm and clearly more in evidence than the supporting acidity for the moment, so give this a few years to wind down. Asian spices, black plums, fig compote and grilled bread create a dizzying array of flavor.

I have no problem with the heady ruby purple colour. There is a bundle of fruit on the nose, raspberry to the fore, a little strawberry beneath, everything you could want on the palate in a village Chambolle unless you want greater power. It is not necessary, as the fruit reverberates across the palate, refreshed by just the right acidity. Delicious! The blend contains a small amount of 1er Cru, Fuées and Baudes, fermented together. Drink from 2029-2035. Tasted Nov 2025.

Note: from <2 ha of vines in the upper southwest portion of the commune that includes some declassified 1ers from Les Baudes and Fuées. A unusually deep color for the vintage. The super-fresh and distinctly cool nose freely reveals its aromas of mostly spicy black cherry and exotic tea wisps. The delicious middle weight flavors exhibit excellent punch on the overtly mineral-driven finish that is presently ever-so-mildly tangy even thought I doubt it will persistent once the bottling has occurred.*Burghound Outstanding!*
