Reviewed February 2026This graceful white shows precision balance and a sense of finesse. Long and satiny on the palate, with vibrant, fine china–like acidity acting as a springboard for layered flavors of nectarine, yellow plum and persimmon fruit, plus lemon oil, minerally salt and stone notes. Offers hints of mountain herbs and white pepper. Though hard to stop sipping today, this should also be a showstopper with cellaring. Drink now through 2044. 900 cases made, 500 cases imported.

From the rockiest site. This is powerful, structured, and profoundly smoky. It is the most "Meursault-like" in its density.
Notes
The 2024 Tenuta delle Terre Nere "Calderara Sottana" Etna Bianco is the estate's only white "Grand Cru," sourced from 60-year-old vines in exceptionally rocky, black pumice soils. It is denser and more "masculine" than the other crus, offering a concentrated profile of yellow plum, nectarine, and mountain herbs with a distinct frame of white pepper and lemon oil. On the palate, it is long and satiny, balancing its weight with a fine-china acidity and a heavy-hitting saline minerality. Early critical reviews have awarded it 95 points, marking it as a structured showstopper capable of aging through 2044.
