2020 Le Murmure de Larcis-Ducasse, St-Emilion

The 2020 Murmure de Larcis Ducasse is a very pretty second wine. It offers up scents of raspberry jam, cinnamon, mint and blood orange, all in a fruity, open-knit style that can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring. All the elements are so nicely put together. With multiple recent 100‑point reviews and relatively limited production, these are wines that could easily command multiples of their current price, but that’s part of the charm for those who have the inside track on the modern era of this estate. As with the Grand Vin, Murmure clearly conveys the limestone terroir that shines through every layer of the wine, offering real depth of fruit, striking elegance, and a purity that would impress even in many first wines. It’s a cuvée that’s often overlooked for reasons I can’t quite explain, because nearly every bottle I’ve opened leaves a deep impression on everyone in the room. I can’t wait to follow it over time, but it’s already brilliant today. Either way, it’s a big‑time winner from one of Bordeaux’s top estates.
