Reviewed January 2026Aromas of red and dark fruit, crushed stones, dried herbs, flowers and salt-cured meat. The palate is tightly woven with a silken mouthfeel, fine tannins and a succulent, minerally finish. A wine of real nerve and approachability young, with ample aging potential. A good example of what a cool vintage in a cool appellation can produce. Drink or hold. (RM)

Faust’s Cabernet Sauvignon in 2023 is quite pretty, reflecting the coolness of the vintage in its blue fruit and cassis aromatics laced with ironstone minerality and elegant unsmoked tobacco notes. Medium-bodied, it reveals supple black cherry and blackberry fruit tinged with cola nut and cherrywood, supported by a firm spine of zesty acidity and gentle, fine-grained tannins. A neatly compact, energetic, and elegant Cabernet for the vintage. (JC)

Wine Spectator
A very solid Cabernet, with punchy energy to its core of dark currant and blackberry preserves, while licorice, alder, tobacco and bay leaf accents fill in throughout. A late note of cast iron peeks out on the finish, adding length and range. Approachable, but there’s no rush. Drink now through 2036. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. (JM)

Based on 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged 20 months in 25% new French oak, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon is solid, offering earthy red and black fruits intermixed with leafy underbrush, tobacco, and chocolate. It's medium to full-bodied, has a balanced mouthfeel, and shows the more structured style of the vintage with outstanding length. Drink this well-made effort over the coming 10-12 years. Drink 2025-2037.
