An even crimson purple. An interesting mix of floral notes plus a little suggestion of chocolate on the nose. The whole bunches (around 50%) add spice at the back, and some of the classic crushed strawberries in a slightly darker register this year. Overall, the wine is harmonious and charming. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted Nov 2024.

The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny Village is beautifully perfumed, soaring from the glass with scents of orange zest, raspberries and rose petals, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple and sensual palate. Readers might wish to think of it as an amalgam of the aromas and finesse of the 2021 and the flesh and texture of 2022. After producing a ripe, muscular trio in 2018, 2019 and 2020, Roumier seems to have reposted with a quintessentially elegant trio in the form of 2021, 2022 and now 2023. Alcohol levels range from 13.3% to 13.8%, much as in 2022; and, as in 2022, while Roumier tries to delay his malolactic fermentations, he didn't succeed this year, meaning that the wines were very easy to taste when I visited. Harvest began on September 13, and yields were good, much the same as in 1999, even though the vineyards are on average older. Of the 2021, 2022 and 2023 trio, 2023 appears to be the softest and most giving, and the wines will offer a broad drinking window.(WK)

The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny Village includes around 50% stems imparting a pleasant pepperiness on the nose. It includes a mixture of well-defined red and black fruit with plenty of character. The palate is fleshy and medium-bodied with a licorice-tinged entry and good density on the finish. This is utterly delicious.(NM)

Note: contains some premier cru juice from Fuées; from 8 different lieux-dits that include Les Athets, Les Barottes, Clos de l'Orme, Les Cras, Creux Baissants, Echézeaux, Les Mombies and Pas de Chat. A slightly riper and more layered nose combines notes of dark cherry, violet, lilac and pretty spice wisps. There is excellent verve and minerality adding interest to the texture of the medium weight flavors that display fine length on the balanced, youthfully austere and sneaky long finale. This is relatively compact and a wine that is going to need at least some patience. Lovely.*Burghound Outstanding!*
