Our first out of state offering from the Anonymous Wine Collective project, and what better way to kick it off than with an amazing value in Willamette Valley Pinot Noir! This beautiful Pinot comes directly from a winery that we have a great connection with, and is already one of our best selling producers from the region. With this Anonymous bottling we simply worked with the winemaker to secure a barrel selection from an existing cuvee and brought it to you at an incredibly deep discount! Thanks to the pricing protection our Anonymous label provides, we can offer this wine at $19.95 - that's 1/3 of it's usual $60 retail price...for the exact same juice! Under its own label the wine was also awarded a huge 96-point score from Decanter Magazine! The largest portion of the fruit comes from an organically farmed vineyard in the heart of the Dundee Hills. The cuvee also combines fruit from the Eola-Amity Hills. Some fruit is sourced from vines that are 30-years-old and planted on their own roots. The wine is fermented in small, open-top tanks, and punched down by hand. The wine then ages for 10 months in largely neutral French oak. The nose is classic Willamette Pinot combining dark rose petal tones with wild, deep red berry fruit, savory elements of forest floor, freshly unearthed truffle and dried herbs. The wine is rich with dark cherry, boysenberry, soft and lush on the palate with spiced berry fruit, pine needle, clove, sandalwood and subtle leather notes. Silky and youthfully energetic on the palate, broad and dark with ripe fruit at the forefront. The wine is expressive and drinking beautifully, but also has the potential to evolve nicely for several years in the cellar. An absolutely sensational value for money! I'm stoked on this Anonymous release and hope to keep working with this great producer for years to come. Cheers!

Fairly rich opening on the nose, there's an overripe unctuousness on the fruit, with this slightly rounded creamy note towards the back end lots of blackberry and a little black cherry, it's this slightly stewed compote. The palate is medium plus, fairly rich as well, with more blackberry and black cherry, with little notes of raspberry somewhere in the background. The sort of unctuousness from the nose definitely carries over with dark berry notes and then a fairly decent hit of barrel spice that melds with the tannin to push through the fruit and up against the acidity. The line holds, but just barely as the finish ends with more barrel spice and a bit of toast. This is definitely a different style of Pinot than the rest of the Anonymous series, it's got a bit more heft and power. This has really nice fruit, despite it being darker than expected, and would be fantastic with some pork BBQ or a tritip. For this price it's hard to go wrong.

Notes

This latest bottling from our Anonymous Wine Collective line is our first from Oregon! It comes from a small, family-owned winery that sources fruit from some of the most incredible sites in the Willamette Valley. This bottling is largely from a renowned, organically farmed vineyard in the Dundee Hills, with some additional fruit from the Eola-Amity Hills to round out the blend. I worked with the winemaker to split off a portion of the cuvée for our own private label bottling. What's more, by protecting the source, we have amazing pricing at 1/3 of the price you'll find this wine selling for under its own label. That is the power of Anonymous!
