This is not your typical Friulian white. The Cialla Bianco represents a masterful combination of Ribolla Gialla, Verduzzo and Picolit grapes which produces a complex wine with textural elements and savory characteristics that require aging. The wine presents itself as a structured wine with mineral notes that will evolve over time. The wine reveals dried apple and chamomile and beeswax notes and a strong salty core which develops complexity and depth as it ages.

Notes

A rare library release from one of Friuli's most staunchly traditionalist estates, the 1997 Ronchi di Cialla “Ciallabianco” is a stunning look at a fully mature, iconic Italian white wine. A blend of Ribolla Gialla, Verduzzo, and Picolit from the Cialla monopole, this wine has had 28 years to evolve into a state of profound complexity. The nose is deep and savory, with aromas of dried pear, honeycomb, and toasted almond, layered with notes of chamomile, beeswax, and a distinct flinty minerality. On the palate, it’s richly textured and bone-dry, with the vibrant acidity of its youth having softened into a seamless, savory core. A long, nutty, and complex finish echoes with saline and herbal nuances. A magnificent, contemplative white for immediate enjoyment.
