Wine Advocate
Blended of 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Franc, the 2018 Red Blend Sugarloaf Ranch is deep garnet-purple in color, prancing out of the glass with beautiful notes of juicy black and red plums, redcurrant jelly, kirsch and mulberries, plus touches of bay leaves, pencil shavings and damp soil. The palate is full-bodied, delivering mouth-coating red and black fruit preserves and loads of savory/herbal accents, supported by a solid line of grainy tannins, finishing long and energetic. The wine was aged for 18 months in 100% new French oak and has an alcohol of 15.2%. (LPB)

Vinous
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Sugarloaf Vineyard offers a compelling interplay of dense red fruit married with savory accents that add complexity. Raspberry jam, chalk, iron, white pepper, dried herbs and flowers are just a few of the nuances that start to open with time in the glass. The Sugarloaf is one of the most distinctive wines in this range. (AG)
