Reviewed June 2024Made in a mix of concrete egg and a 500 litre barrel, half and half, not yet racked. Mid lemon yellow, rather oaky. But this will damp down, all the power behind, the exoticism which can work really well with Montée de Tonnerre, picked late enough to get it all. Very long finish. Needs the wood to subside but should be exceptional.

Nicely intense flavors of brown spices, fresh croissant, poached apple and spring blossoms spread across the palate. High-wattage acidity contrasts the nicely-extracted, custardy core. Layered and concentrated on the finish, this will age beautifully. The freshness here is in part due to the concrete eggs and large format (500 L) barrel Cyril uses.

Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "Not yet bottled – 50% 500-litre barrels the rest in concrete eggs. A slight rounding of the nose with some oak spice. Beautifully incisive in the mouth – cool, chiselled, the oak flavours come into focus in the late-middle to finishing flavours – slightly creamy. This will be great but wait 5 years…" (01/2025)
