Fragrant and loaded with finesse, this lovely red opens with heady aromas of woodland berry, wild rose and camphor. Lithe and delicious, the elegant palate offers juicy red cherry, crushed strawberry, baking spice and a tangy mineral note suggesting granite. It's well balanced, with polished tannins and fresh acidity. Drink through 2032. (KO)

A bright and minerally red, with a well-spiced overtone of anise, white pepper and graphite, this features taut, integrated tannins and flavors of wild cherry and strawberry, cured tobacco and slate that linger on the creamy finish. Drink now through 2028. 3,200 cases made, 1,125 cases imported. (BS)

The Sassella ridge delivers a wine that presents itself as delicate and refined with its subtle flavors and complex profile. The wine stands out with its delicate tannins and refined aromatics which indicate its exceptional aging potential among the Superiore range.

Notes

ArPePe’s 2017 “Stella Retica” Sassella Valtellina Superiore is a beautifully transparent and refined expression of Nebbiolo from the steep granite terraces of Sassella. The nose is elegant and layered, with aromas of red cherry, rose petal, orange peel, and wild herbs, lifted by hints of tea leaf and crushed stone. On the palate, it’s light to medium-bodied with bright acidity and fine, dusty tannins framing pure red fruit and mineral complexity. The finish is long and graceful, echoing floral and savory notes. A quintessential mountain Nebbiolo, combining finesse, structure, and a deep sense of place.
