Burghound
Reviewed January 2024Note: from a total of 1.06 ha with 65+ year old vines in the climats of Les Treux and Cruots with .63 ha and .43 ha, respectively. Moderate wood influence is present on the equally elegant and pure, if slightly riper, aromas of jasmine tea, red currant and poached plum. The caressing and seductively textured larger-bodied flavors are at once rich and generous while displays fine length on the dusty and youthfully austere finish. This too is excellent and it is also more refined than it usually is.

Take it home. Or give it a cellar.

Vinous
The 2022 Echézeaux Grand Cru, matured entirely in new oak, was surprisingly closed on the nose, needing a bit of coaxing. It offers dark berry fruit, truffle and light violet scents, the latter becoming more prominent with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with sapid black fruit, blood orange, blueberry and crushed stone. It fans out towards the finish, perhaps the Beaumont with a bit more panache? Still, this is a lovely Echézeaux.(NM)
