The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is a truly magical wine, and I'm probably underrating this beauty by a point. All varietal from a site just next to Bella Oaks, it reveals a dense purple hue to go with sensational notes of crème de cassis, darker currants, loamy earth, iron, and espresso. Deep, full-bodied, and powerful, yet incredibly layered, flawlessly balanced, and light on its feet, it reminds me slightly of the 2013. It offers pleasure even today yet deserves 4-6 years of bottle age and will evolve for 30 years in cold cellars. This is sensational juice.

On the west side of Rutherford, the three-acre Greer vineyard is a gem, producing this brilliant red- and black-fruited wine that has the purity the district is known for. Moderate tannins and light acidity frame the generous red cherries, black cherries and mild oak spices. Drink now or hold.

The single-varietal 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is deep garnet-purple in color. It comes skipping out with energetic notes of wild blueberries, fresh blackcurrant, and kirsch plus hints of cedar, cinnamon, and tilled soil. The full-bodied palate is firm, lively, and tightly-knit with a solid backbone of beautifully ripe, grainy tannins, finishing long with jaw-dropping purity. (LPB)
