Reviewed August 2024Minerals, peppery spices, blue fruit and violets. Fine-grained, mealy tannins on the palate. Firm and extremely long, with some white pepper at the end. Lots of finesse here, despite the taut firmness. Drink from 2026. (SZ)

Notes
La Estrada is a tiny (.64ha) plot that was planted in the 1940s on the western edge of the village of Lanciego in Rioja Alavesa. A field blend that is mostly Tempranillo with a small amount of Granciano. Planted in chalky clay soils, trained in the traditional bush vine method and farmed organically. Fermented in oak vat and then aged in 1500L foudre for 16 months.
